Growing up with two parents going through med school it was alway harsh. My parents could barely afford to pay rent and groceries. Being first generation immigrants, my parents were the poorest of the poor and only had the relief of their parents and siblings a like, there was no financial backing at all for us except student loans. It went on for this until my dad went to residency in Long Island, New York that we could finally live a life that was not paycheck to paycheck.
