My Career is Police Dog Handler. A Police Dog Handler, or K-9 Unit, is a unit in the police force that does specialized police work. They track down suspects, search for missing people, illegal drugs, explosives, and stop a crime in progress. I plan to be in the force after I graduate collage, but before I become a K-9 officer I must be a patrol officer for 3 to 4 years and volunteer on my days off, and have a good home with a fence around my yard and a good dog owner. After I leave the Academy I will be a patrol officer in Mccomb, MS before going to Magnolia, MS to be in the K-9 Division. The main reason I chose this career is that the crime rate and drug use in Mississippi is increasing, not just that but more guns are on the street and more…
Choose a college that has an environment you'd enjoy exploring. In addition to a beautiful campus, your school should be in a city or town that you would enjoy exploring. You are going to be here for four years and might move into the surrounding community when you finish college, so make sure you enjoy where you will be living and studying.…
Choosing a college is one of the most difficult choices you can make in regards to your career and there are many facets which need to be looked at when making that decision. Since we have a similar career path, I wanted to take the time to share with you the many different reasons why I chose Western Governors University as my college of choice. Credited certification courses, online access, flexible scheduling, expediting graduation date, and cost were all major factors I considered when I chose WGU.…
As a child I would always watch Miami Vice which is a show about two cops and their experiences while working as detectives in the Miami police department. Through the years I eventually started watching more tv shows about police and what they do. This always kept me on track with the ideas of being coming a police officer or working in the criminal justice department. While it is my dream to become a police officer I also have another career that interest me and that is aviation. I always thought it was cool fly on planes as a kid but I did not become interested in becoming a pilot until this summer when I had started working at Detroit metro airport. With my job as a ramp agent I am in constant contact with airplanes and the pilots that fly them. Throughout my summer I had the chance to talk to many pilots and they told me the things that I would have to do to become a pilot. With that being said I have two careers that interest me and at this moment in my life I do not know which one I like more.…

When I joined the police department, I knew I wanted to be a part of something great. I wanted to leave a legacy and make an impression on others. I was the first in my family to choose a career in law enforcement, so initially, I was unaware of the challenges this career field came with. My mom was a teacher, and my dad worked in the printing business. Both were successful in their chosen fields, but they were blind to the demands required for a fulfilling career in law enforcement. To be successful, I would need to be observant of those around me who had found success. I would need to mirror their ways and incorporate their habits into my own. I would need to learn from their failures. Most importantly, I would need to learn what made them…
Out of the three choices above the career that I seek most interest in is a state trooper. State troopers must demonstrate good judgment; thoroughness, conscientiousness, common sense,…
A police officer is something I have always had an interest in becoming. Law enforcement is an exciting career that can open many doors to different jobs, from patrolling the streets to protecting important political figures. Police officers are an essential part of the communities in our nation, offering citizens protection from criminals, preventing crimes, and serving the members of their community.…
I have often dreamt of going to college. The comparison of the different colleges was a learning experience. The admission requirements, classroom sizes, and the costs helped me to decide on which college would best suit my needs. Though I must admit, my affinity for community college had me dispassionate for the university life.…
Since I was a small child, seven or eight years of age, my desire to be in law enforcement has remained strong. I have expired the searching of other careers, and come up short. As I grew older, I consulted with those I respect, seeking their wisdom in my career path. This choice had not been fashioned lightly. I am convinced, at this point in my life, serving as a law enforcement officer is my calling. My ability to serve our community and nation, as a law enforcement officer, is a great passion of mine. I am compelled to serve those around me, by protecting the innocent and carrying out justice to the guilty.…
It has taken a long time to choose a career, and I have gone through many other options before deciding on this. I think a criminologist is a good career for me, because I have not been deterred from it, and there has not been a part of it that I would not enjoy. For example, I did not want to be a vet, because I do not like to see animals in pain. I did not want to be a truck driver, because I am not that big into driving. More recently, I do not want to be a cop, because I am more interested in the why then catching a criminal. The other reason I think this would be a good career for me is because I like to figure out why people are the way that they are, and why people do the things that they do. I enjoy studying human behavior, and I have always held an interest in learning about why criminals are criminals, and what drove them to choose that crime, and could it have been prevented. Another reason I think this career would be a better fit for me, than other fields in the criminal justice program, like attorney, or police officer, is because I am not too interested in the law part, or arresting people, but I am into finding out the why and…
