My Grandma
Brave, patience, strong, proper, caring, generous, wonderful and beautiful, these are all the words that come to my mind when I think about my grandmother Ratna M. Ever since my parent left me when I was two years old, I have been living with my grandma until I turn 17 and every day I realize how intelligent she is and how much of a well-rounded woman she has made me become. My grandma Ratna had a big impact on my life and I wouldn't be the person I am today if it weren't for her. When I was younger, I didn't really like living with my grandma. I thought it was unfair that my parent left me with my grandma just to finish their business and school. As I got older, I realized that I didn't even know how well I was being treated and didn’t understand what my grandma had to offer. She has so many great stories from when she was growing up, stories about my grandpa whom left her when my youngest uncle was born. So, my grandmother was a single mother maintained a house of seven kids and she always has positive attitude. My grandmother fed the hungry, donated clothes, help people find jobs, and take care of kids. The whole village loved my grandmother dearly. She did not have many possessions, but she would give her all and never complain. She show’s me that it is not ok to give up on your dreams. No matter what anyone might tell me. So that has really impacted me on a high scale. Makes me stronger and try to get done what needs to be done to be able to reach those high expectations that I have for myself. And she is always right behind me, and she has my back through anything. And I don’t want her thinking that all her hard work has been a waste of time. So I really want to achieve my future goals, of becoming a kindergarten teacher so then she will know that everything she worked for was not all in vain. So then maybe I can help to take care of her so she will be happy for the rest of her life. That’s my main point for trying my hardest and being able to succeed in my goals. So then I can make my most influential person the happiest she can be. I believe that everyone has the person who impact in their life. For me, it was my grandma. So, Who in your life has had the greatest impact on your life and why?

It’s a tough question, isn’t it? For me, we do need both of these. Paper qualification is more like an indicator that shows that you’ve learnt/mastered/knowledgeable on the field that you’ve studied. IN other words it shows that you are a person who know how in applying the knowledge that you’ve gained in real situation/work environment. Why? In these higher learning institutions (both private and public) you were tought in structural manner ie starting with fundamentals or basic then move on to intermediate level and later on the advance level. In between these levels you will be tested on your knowledge and understanding on the subject tought in order to ensure that you are qualified to progress to later stages.…

Growing up in a small town wasn't always easy for me. I felt that I was constantly hiding and denying the person that I was and the life that I lived. I was forced to be someone that I really wasn't due to the fact that I had a "family secret" that I was withholding in order to protect the well-known, family name, Hutcherson. In highschool, no one but family members and close friends knew that I lived with an alcoholic father. As a child I was always taught to keep our family life secret and never let people know the struggles that our family faced. People always thought that I had the best of everything because of the material possessions I accumulated from my dad. They assumed that because our family had money, we were problem free - and oh, how wrong they were! It was until my senior year at Halls High School that I kept leading people on to believe a lie. I finally got tired of feeling as though I was two different people with two different lives.…

Everyone in my family has something different about them, whether it’s my little cousin’s fascination of cars or my grandpa’s endless enjoyment of the television. But the person that stood out to me the most was my grandma. She has been a loving person all her life, and she never asked for anything in return for her good deeds. Dusk till dawn, she will constantly tend to others wants and needs, before she would even start doing things for herself. Growing up in struggling times, my grandma did not have the opportunity to receive a basic education, as it was frowned upon for a woman to be educated in her family. She did the best she could to educate herself, reading as many books as she could get her hands on without her family noticing. Luckily, she married to my grandfather at a young age, and left the discouraging household that she used to call home. My grandma and I had wonderful times together every time I had the chance to visit her. She would cook my favorite foods…
