My Grandpa Research Paper
When I looked up the definition of a hero, the words noble, courageous, selflessness, and caring appeared across my ipad. Instantly I thought of my grandpa. I've always called my grandpa “Papa” since before I can remember. Papa was the most genuine, kind-hearted person I've ever known. He always put everyone before himself and did everything he could to better everyone else's life. My grandparents had 5 kids, when my grandma decided to move to Florida from Boston, my grandpa knew he needed to stay at the job he was at to support his family. Papa always displayed such noble characteristics thought out his life. From his work ethic, to his dedication to his family he was always honest and hardworking. Papa was a CFO until age 70. Papa was the most honest man. One day I went to publix with him and the cashier rang up three apples instead of four and when he got home and realized they didn't charge him for one of the apples, he made us go back and have them charge us for the apple. That's just one example of how genuine he really was. Papa was the most selflessness person, he always put others before himself. I remember when I was eight or nine my mom cooked something I really didn't like one night so I called papa and asked if he could pick me up some food. He dropped everything he was doing and ran out to pick me up something to eat. I knew I could always go to my …show more content…

He was given a prognosis of 6 months and lived to see age 87. He was so courageous, he never stopped fighting. He always said “I'm fighting for you kids, I want to see you grow up”. A hero isn't someone flying around in a cape saving a cat from a tree. To me, a hero is someone who never is noble and strives everyday to be the best person he or she could possibly be. I miss my grandpa everyday, but I know he has shown me all the moral righteousness I will need for the rest of my life. I hope someone admires me one day like I admire

What had happened was, in the four months that had passed since that well blew out in the Gulf, my Step Daddy Cade’s job at Carson & Company (They’re a seafood distribution company in Mobile.) had slowed down to a standstill. My Step Daddy Forrest—sometimes I like to call my Step Daddy Cade, Forrest Gump, because he’s born and raised in Alabama, he’s a bit of a dip shit, and he works in the shrimp industry—had spent the last twelve years working for C&C and when that well blew out. It had killed all the fishing in the Gulf real quick. The shrimp industry alone had decreased by more than seventy percent virtually overnight, which meant, everyone in the area who had depended on the Gulf for their livelihood was now hitting the unemployment…

A hero can make a difference in a small, medium, or large way. Some say that you can’t be a hero until you do a difficult or large task to prove that you are one. The truth is, the world is filled with heroes who became one by one simple task. Like your parents, city workers, or many other citizens. People aren’t doing the good to help themselves, there doing it for the person they are helping. Heroes aren’t heroes because they want to be, but because they choose to be kind and they go out of their way…

One kind of hero that exists all over the world is the everyday hero. The person that I consider my everyday hero is my mother. The qualities that make her my hero are her way of doing things, and also how she sacrifices herself for me. For example, she is responsible and shows her stronger side in front of us when we are facing difficult times. Also she is so lovely that almost everyone likes her when they meet her. She always says to me that her duties are to look after me but at the same time to give me the freedom to make mistakes and find bright sides of my mistakes. The way that she influences me is that I see that sometimes she leaves what she is doing for her to take care of me. Even though many people argue that heroes are not real, I will disagree with them because I believe that everybody has a hero who protects them and looks after them.…

In my life, I have met certain people who have changed me for the better and have helped shape me into who I am today. A lot of those people have left but one that has always stood by my side and sticks out in my mind is my favorite person in the whole world, who happens to be my Papa. He has been there for me since day one, literally. He was the second person to hold me as in infant, after my mother. People like him don’t come around everyday. He is the most genuine person you will ever meet. A lot of people would speak this way about their relatives or friends but every person who my grandpa meets, leaves with a smile on their face.…

    Hero Definition Essay

The definition of a hero is a relatively simple one; a hero is someone who positively impacts others through their actions and accomplishments. While we all have different views on who exactly we see as a hero, there are certain individuals, such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Abraham Lincoln, who have undeniably changed the world and fit this definition. I have found that many of the individuals who society, and I personally, view as great heroes, share a certain set of traits that almost definitely had a large part in their accomplishments. This is why I believe that bravery, selflessness, and determination are three vital traits when it comes to defining what it means to be a hero.…

I was shocked and a little horrified to learn that my elder has not made any end of life plans. She has no will, no life insurance, no advance directive… Nothing. And she didn’t want to hear about the benefits of any of those things. She has no plans about where and how she wants to live out the remaining years of her life other than “right where she is now”. I have to say that I was extremely concerned with her Brick wall she has built around the concept of aging and dying. I do not think that my elder has accepted the fact that the only guarantee in life is that everyone will eventually die. She has also not come to terms with God and is not sure if she even believes in God, heaven, hell, reincarnation, afterlife, or any of those sort of things.…

My Grandpa Leon is possibly the most negative person I know. Even though I love him, we are different from one another in almost every way. I am calm, organized, and quiet; my grandpa is boisterous, loud, and chaotic, with difficulty focusing and controlling his emotions. I prefer to live more simply and modestly; he loves to spend money on grand yet unnecessary things. We are both intelligent, but in different ways: I love learning about people, but he has been a bus mechanic his whole life, with an inventive flair and a knack for plenty of other complicated things such as electrical circuits. Whereas these are all basic ways that my grandpa and I are different from each other, the biggest difference between us is our outlooks on life.…

“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself”. (Campbell) When most people think of a hero, they think of celebrities or superheroes; like Adele or Batman. These people are not the only heroes in the world. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. and Candace Lighter are heroes. These people made an impact on other peoples lives without being superheroes. A hero is someone who impacts other people’s lives in a positive way.…
