When someone asks me what the greatest achievement of my life has been, I look at my certificates and awards, searching for the one I like best. However, each time, I end up with an answer that has nothing do with these certificates, and everything to do with the person I am today. That moment I remember a saying
"When you make a mistake, don't look back at it long. Take the reason of the thing into your mind and then look forward. Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power."-Hugh White.
Yes, my greatest achievement in life is undoubtedly my greatest failures in life. To "learn from my own mistakes" is a quote by which I have lived all my life and will continue to live by. All my life, I have made mistakes. However, I have squeezed through these huge walls of mistakes and have come out as a reformed individual, with a positive outlook on life. It is said that experience is the best teacher; and what better way to get experience than from our own mistakes. May it be in terms of academics, self-reform, or even in helping others, I have made mistakes; but have never let them overpower my confidence and perseverance to succeed in life. It is my great achievement in my life.
As a child, I was weak at my study. I used to get jealous when other students received awards. My teachers used to say I was of no use at any work. My parents used to compare me to my friends who were good at study, sports and many more. But I did not like it. I wanted to show there was something special in me, I was also gifted like everyone else. I think it was those words from my teachers and parents that made me easy to choose path between good and bad. It was their values that helped me identify my strengths in painting, sports, study habits and so on. It is because of those motivations that I have become a human today. After all these years, my parents, teachers as well my relatives praise at my accomplishment at my study. They really feel proud of me. This, I believe, has been the greatest achievement of my life.

Many people in my life have prepared me for my future and have taught me how to handle any obstacle thrown my way. My parents have inspired me to never settle for anything but the best, and have taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. Both of my parents came from families without a strong financial basis or a stronghold of people who believed that they could excel; moreover, this led my parents to becoming doctors and providing support in every aspect for my sister and I. My parents’ determination has led to my belief in the veracious message: nothing is going to be handed to you because you must work to make something happen. As I have gotten older and realize the little time I have left sheltered by my parents, this idea has prepared me for the real world due to the fact that I know not to take anything for granted, but to work for what I want to accomplish in life.…

I always loved school, and I was a fast learner. I was praised for my accomplishments at an early age and I believe that the satisfaction I gained from impressing others was motivation that impacted my future. I continued to do the best I could in school. My mother was very strict and tough on me when reviewing my work, ripping my essays if I wrote in sloppy handwriting and erasing all of my math problems if I got more than one wrong. It was emotionally difficult but I eventually toughened up, and her training made me a more diligent student. The only motivation I would have was the praise I would receive for amazing scores on my work. Eventually, I stopped being praised and it was devastating for me. I entered middle school and I continued…
