According to the course description at Schenectady Community College “ College Composition is a course that provides a foundation in academic discourse by developing effective communication skills with an emphasis on expository writing.” The course is offered to students’ in the Technology, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood, Hospitality, and Culinary program. RCCC plans on eliminating the ENG 123 course as a requirement. As a student taking this course I find it to be very helpful, therefore, it should be required for all students to take.…
I mastered two out of three The Craft of Writing and Sentence Skills; I need additional study with punctuation, mechanics, and spelling. The additional areas of study are where I feel my writing could use the most improvement. I will use the MyFoundationsLab Path Builder to assist me in learning to improve my writing skills.…
Honesty, authenticity, genuineness, bravery, and valor are my top strengths. I was shocked by these results not only because I feel they are extremely accurate, but these are the things I value most in life, especially honesty, I feel that you can hate a man to the core, but if that man is a truly honest man you can only respect him. I want to be an epitome of a truly honest man, and I believe my character strengths will help me achieve this goal. My bottom strengths were the love of learning, self-control, and regulation. I feel these strengths are just as important as my top strengths, and I need to maximize them all in order to become a great leader. Marilyn Vos Savant “Success is achieved by developing our strengths not by eliminating our…
Similar to other students, each of my five strengths has a significant influence on my life at Grace as well as my studies. First of all, being an achiever clearly empowers me to pursue my dream of becoming a teacher. A few of the characteristics of an achiever are great stamina, productive, and a hard worker; these will definitely benefit me in the coming years. Also, this strength will aid me in my goal of attaining good grades during my college time. No matter what, I always put my best effort into my work. I generally do what is asked of the teacher/professor without even thinking as well as do anything necessary in order to pay attention to what is being taught which more than likely will be an advantage for me.…
After completing the StregthsQuest survey, I learned that my five greatest strengths are Harmony, Competition, Achiever, Includer, and Communication. Some of these strengths I had previously recognized as a strength, but a few were a surprise to me. Growing up, I was always a competitive person. I enjoyed the thrill of winning, whether it be in a team effort or individual effort. Also, I have always wanted to achieve great things in both my personal and professional life. I believe that I have always been great at communicating with others and love to include others in everything that I do to achieve a goal. The biggest strength of mine that surprised me most was Harmony. However, after reading about each strength, I know how I have utilized…
As a writer, there are things that I do well, but there are also things I could improve on to make my writing better. I’m pretty good at getting my point across, and getting people to understand what I’m trying to say. Another thing I’m good at is just writing the paper. Once I get started on a paper it is very easy for me to just keep writing until I’m done with it. However, when doing this I tend to not use the best grammar and be too wordy with my writing. I can definitely fix these issues, and continue to build on the things that I do well.…
Predicting the school year ahead really depends on one key factor; myself. How my year turns out is ultimately based on how much effort I put into it.…
Writing can be a fun stress relief hobby/activity for many people including me. When it comes to writing essay and research papers I try to pick the most interesting topic that will best fit my interests. By having the opportunity of choosing what to write about it will allow me to organize the paper smoothly. My biggest strengths in writing is providing evidence, and giving credentials, and my biggest weakness in writing is writing my conclusion.…
I am very motivated. I know that having the knowledge of proper writing can enable me to rise above any competition in presentation, as well as save time in editing. Improving one’s writing skills is always beneficial, and I know there is always room to improve. I want to be taken seriously in the real world, so I figure that improving my writing can aid in achieving that…
To have charisma in writing is a gift, but to know your weaknesses to improve is where one finds their maximum success. Writing comes with countless details that can allow or break ones writer credibility. Individuals may write with as bounteous flaws that are available, but when it comes to witnessing other individual works, they find every error. To grow as a writer, I must credit my abilities, advance on my struggles to grow, and develop a plan towards a better me in writing.…
My writing has many flaws I have known that since I started writing. But out of all the problems that I have always had, the one that bothers me the most is that I know I am not producing the best work I can possibly get out. I have always been confident in my thoughts and ideas, but every time I starting writing them down they never seem to be able to go the way I want them to go.…
Writing has seemed to be a difficult process for me over the years. This is why it was my choice to enroll myself in creative writing classes over the last 6 years. The most difficult process for me in writing is generating ideas. You can learn to use proper structures for sentences but sadly creativity is something you can learn. In my play, The Doctor and the Patient, I displayed my best writing, and it gives a good example of what I have learned in this class. “THE PATIENT: Look, man—we’re all different. Each individual can’t be typed into a group. All minds—souls, even—are different. But we all have something in common: we’re human. And it’s beautiful.” Is an allegory, often used in poetry. Due to the depressed nature of the patient, he finds something that can bring light into his world. Though he is stubborn, and rejects medicating and therapy sessions, he finds a false sense of security.…
My core, defining strength in writing is set up of the physical pape. When I write a report, I usually divide my paper in different segments as that allows the reader and myself a quick and easy method to find where information is located. This probably stems from the fact I must write a lot of lab reports as a Biology major. However, I cannot recall if I ever written an argument report with this method as I just starting using it when I enrolled in college. It will be interesting to see how well I will do.…
I think the main issue I have is transition and vocabulary. I would like to transition from one sentence to another better. Even one paragraph to another. The books were helpful in giving me ideas on how to do that. I would like my writing to flow better.…
