My Guardian Spirit In Alice Walker's Owls

Aboriginal people moved to areas where the land was bountiful. Each of the four seasons had a special time to hunt and trap animals for food and clothing, a time to catch fish, to harvest fruit and berries, and a time to pick and prepare medicines and roots. Everyone finds something interesting or compelling about nature that draws them towards it- be it its qualities or beauty. Nature is especially important for the Aboriginals and they all have their individual guardian spirit that reflects them. In my opinion, my guardian spirit is an owl. I believe so because the owl reflects my love for reading. Owls are very peaceful creatures. Being nocturnal, they come out only at night when the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. Similarly, I love reading
especially at night when it is silent since everyone sleeps. Moreover, at night I don’t have to worry about my homework or any upcoming tests. Reading also acts as a stress reliever which corresponds to the owl’s calm nature. Along with the calm nature, the owls also give off a mysterious vibe due to the fact that they do not make a lot of noise. Considering the fact that one of the genres I love reading at night is mystery and adventure, owl would be my perfect guardian spirit because the atmosphere is similar to the one I read in and the one the owl is usually found in-sometimes the owls are also mentioned in these books to create the atmosphere. Therefore, I believe that owl is my guardian spirit as it portrays my love of reading and the atmosphere I love reading in very clearly
