In the first stage my patient would be unconscious and in a positive or negative state. With a patient with depression or anxiety they would most likely be in a negative state of mind. My job as a psychologist would be to guide my patient out of that state by giving them support, encouragement, and techniques to help them. Some patient with mental illness may not have a support time to help them through what they are dealing with. Just having a person to talk to and vent about situations is helpful when you don’t have anyone around when they have the skill to help. I believe encouragement is important because a patient may not feel that what they are doing is valid, giving them encouragement might change the way they look at the situation. Dealing with anxiety simple task such ask questions in class can be difficult. Giving the techniques to help them get over any fears that will block them from doing what they have to

Many will attempt to refuse this call to adventure, and many others will have no choice and get tossed into an unknown, difficult world. In this new world, we’ll have to go through at least one supreme ordeal, if not much more, being hindered by our own demons and by the demons of others, and getting help from allies. This story we go through is professionally referred to as the Hero's Journey and my older brother, Preston, is a terrific…

I think I am starting to get tired of the everyday routine that we have to endure so we can spend the rest of the day travelling, only to rise the next day to repeat the process again. We wake up earlier than the sun does to eat a meal consisting of bacon, bacon, and more bacon. It wasn’t all that bad at first, but now, I can’t even look at it anymore. At this point in the journey, I am starting to be introduced to another side of nature, one that I didn’t get to experience back in Pittsburgh. We are travelling down a part of the prairie that provides a home to many unique specimens that are new to our city eyes.…

When I was a little girl, I always loved to play pretend. My childhood days were spent being princesses and mermaids, doctors and firemen, and even the occasional dragon. Although I really, really loved being a beautiful fairy queen, I often decided to become something quite different--an explorer. This was where I was at my peak. Yards turned into jungles, and my dog became a very rare tiger, just waiting to be documented and put into my discovery journal. Exploring was my absolute favorite thing to do. However, as I grew older, I gradually stopped exploring. The backyard was simply that--a backyard; my discovery journal was thrown deep in a box and left alone for years. My inner explorer became abandoned on a desert island, in a place where it couldn’t reach me anymore.…
