A Cricket Match
Cricket is one of the most popular and exciting out door sports. Some of us get the opportunity to play first class cricket, but there are millions who enjoy seeing it being played. It gives us moments of leisure and pleasure and fills us with a competitive spirit. I witnessed the demonstration of the greatest excitement and determination at National Stadium, Karachi.
It was a fine day. A large number of people including men, women and children from all walks of life gathered there to enjoy the match between Pakistan and New Zealand. To be a good sports team, one has to be aggressive and this was shown in the final between the tw3o teams. New Zealand won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first. This was a big blunder that their captain had made. Shahid Afridi and Saeed Anwar were sent as openers. It was a right decision by the captain, because Shahid Afridi slammed the ball over the field. It was due to his hard hitting that Pakistan achieved a good start. Saeed Anwar was very careful and most of the time simply obstructed. The bowling was quite strong, due to which Saeed Anwar was not able to score a single run for the first fifteen minutes. But as time passed, he grasped the strategy of the bowlers and began to fully support Afridi. He completed his half-century by playing keen and beautiful shots. When he was at a score of 88, the first slip caught him smartly. In this way, the first wicket of Pakistan fell at a total of 130. After him, Shahid Afridi could not steadily face the bowlers and proceeded towards the pavilion in a short time.
Ejaz Ahmed began his batting when the Pakistani team was playing at 135. Along with Inzamamum ul Haq, he pulled up the score to

All of us know about baseball since it is America’s game, but many of us have no idea what cricket is. The sports are very similar yet very different. A former U.S. ambassador to Britain once said, “Even Americans living in England usually find it easier to become a practicing Buddhist than a cricket fan”. This statement shows just how different the two sports are. Comparing and contrasting the two sports would be very intriguing, so that is what I’m going to do today.…

During training I was impressing all and then on the first match day just before the coin went up between the the two leaders a bombshell was dropped , a meeting was called and I was handed my first cap by the captain and a new set of whites as i was to take the field instead of a experienced stalwart in the team and thus was slotted to bat at number three . The toss was won by my captain and he decided to have a bat on a green seamer , on which the ball would move around in every direction .…

Cricket today, as it has been said many times, is not what it used to be. Unfortunately many young West Indians know very little of what is once was and what it stood for, they take for granted the techniques and its origins. The level of West Indies cricket has been diluted due to the increase of tourism and fast paced games. However there are many West Indians who hold strong to the fact that cricket is part of our culture and heritage. This archipelago in the Americas has produced many fine cricketers throughout the years. The Caribbean is a unique multicultural and multiethnic region; the majority of the population was forced to migrate after the original inhabitants faced almost complete annihilation. The survivors were at no level to repopulate the Caribbean. As a result there was no previous pattern for the new comers to follow; they had to create their own. West Indians had to develop their own religion, food, politics, art and essentially their entire culture. Cricket was one such aspect, though not their own, over time they moulded and shaped it into what it is today. Cricket came to the West Indies via the English military that were deployed to defeat Napoleon’s west India project and to suppress uprisings, they played the game during their free time, which was relaxing and reminded them of home. The game was introduced as a means of portraying the high statute that was English. During the Victorian age the English empire was at its peak, it had expanded considerably and was proud of its successes, she deemed herself as superior in commerce, morals and race. At this time the only thing that was missing was cricket, Lord Harris, a colonial administrator saw cricket as a method of teaching discipline, loyalty and acceptance of decisions in order to consolidate the empire.…

    My Hobby of Skateboarding

My hobby is skateboarding this is a worldwide sport in the X games. Skateboarding was invented a long while ago by Australian surfers when there weren’t any waves they attached wheels to their surf boards and ‘land surfed’. There has been many historic moments in skateboarding like when Tony Hawk did the world’s first 900 degree spin (2 ½ turns) in the X games competition also Danny Way jumped the opening gate for the great wall of china also the latest historic moment is 16 year old Mitchie Brusco was the youngest to perform in the X games and also he was one of the only people to do a 1080 degree spin (3 turns). There are many makes for skateboarding from the most common of Plan B to the less know of Fracture but each skateboard is made the same its what the board is coated with which counts for the ‘pop’. Pop is the bounce of the skateboard deck the higher it bounces the more pop it has the better the pop the easier the trick is. There are two different stances regular (left foot forward) and goofy (right foot forward) this can be determined by which hand you write with if your right handed you are regular and if you are left handed you are goofy but this isn’t the same with everyone though certain people can do things better there opposite side. Skateboarding tricks are very complex even starting with the Ollie (hop) because the foot positioning is very difficult to grasp but the easiest trick is in vert (ramps) it is when you grab the board in mid-air and this easy grab is called the Indy grab this is where you grab the board just behind our front foot. There are a few key components to a skateboard like there is the deck (wooden part you stand on) trucks (metal that holds the wood and the wheels together) nuts and bolts (holds wheels to trucks and holds trucks to the deck) wheels (parts that make the skateboard move) bushings (help the skateboard to move and also they are located in the trucks) baseplate (attached to the deck and the trucks) kingpin…

From cricket players and experts of the game you hear different opinions. In a petition to governor of India by Indian cricket players they show angry and an upset attitude towards the English Polo players who are ruining their fields. Nowhere in this petition is talk about hardships of life and restrictions put on them cricket gave them something else to think about. This was good for the government by not having many riots and wants for change by the people. A English cricketer and historian Cecil Headlam discusses how after all of Britain’s colonization from hunters, and soldiers and politicians now it’s the game of cricket which provides education and moral training for the Indian people this movement is the first positive from the British government to the Indian people. Muhammad Ali Jinnah leader of Muslim cricket league has nothing but positive things to say about the game of cricket. Even though Britain was still controlling India during this time in 1924 cricket gave all of the Indian people a way to socialize and teach those ways of life other than fighting. Shaharyar Khan explains how cricket brings Pakistan and Indian people together without fighting for once. So this game players and fans were somewhat ambassadors for both countries.…
