my husband taught me how to swim
• I've never taken 'official' swimming lessons in my life. It's something I learned from my husband.
• He always try to teach me how to do things especially involve in the aerobic exercises, because he knows that the aerobic exercise is good for my health, especially swimming, which has been found to be not only beneficial for my body, but also perfect for relaxing my mind.
• About 4 years ago, on the strength of his recommendation, I decided to learn how to swim. So my husband started to teach me.
• At first I was a little nervous about getting into the water, but I was determined to try it. Besides, the water was nice and clear. Then I dropped into the pool. Any fear that I had just washed away. It was incredible. I could see everything under the water.
• He showed me some basic gesture of swimming. I couldn't get the skills of floating on the water so I was pretty worried. However, my husband told me that just keep trying. Then, he let me try to swim in the shallow water area by myself. Under his encouragement, I practiced the arm and leg movements every day, finally I made it . You can't imagine how elated I was when I could float around in the water and pretend I was a fish.
• As far as I am concerned, my husband's teaching method is pretty desirable. He not only impart the gestures but also stimulate my learning interest and help me to learn this skill more speedy.
• Swimming is very useful for me. There are many psychological benefit to swimming, if you allow it to occur. Relax and swim with a very low effort. Let your mind wander, focusing on nothing but the rhythm of your stroke. This form of meditation can help you gain a feeling of well-being, leaving your water session refreshed and ready to go on with the rest of your day.

That year when I came to camp, I felt inept to go on hard rivers. Every day when I was on the lake, I was told that I should go be adventurous and go on new rivers. I would never listen and make excuses for not wanting to go on new difficult rivers. I was scared of broadening my horizons because the past year I would kayak on rivers and every time I would flip I would bail out of my boat and not flip back up. This was very discouraging because everyone would have to wait for me while I emptied out my boat and while the counselors had to rescue my boat. Andrew was the person that influenced me to start…

The entire first week, I was stuck with the coach to work on my diving. He kept repeating that I should dive with my head instead of my whole body. While my body and my mind told me, "Quit! Quit!" in my heart, I felt that quitting was not the right response. I wanted to become as good a swimmer as my teammates.…

One scorching July afternoon after a baseball tournament in Searcy, Arkansas, the whole team had stopped by the Holiday Inn where we had been staying for one last swim. As I looked around the inadequate pool I noticed everybody swimming in the deep end and having a blast except one person, Chandler Lowrey. We were only seven and eight year olds, but we all seemed to be excellent swimmers, but Chandler was still using the never failing, doggie paddle. I couldn’t let him be the butt of our jokes so I launched in next to him and began to swim. I could tell he was struggling to stay at the water’s surface. I tried my hardest to teach him how…

It was my first day of practice for high school swimming. There I was- a scrawny freshman, idolizing these upperclassmen who towered above me. Being the only freshman in my class, my coach had me train alongside these giants. I remember the countless morning practices, which always involved grueling endurance sets, where my teammates lapped me constantly while I struggled to make the intervals; feeling disappointed in myself, but determined to continue working hard in order to catch up to my teammates. However, even those grueling workouts could not compare to Christmas break that year. A whole week of practices that were near impossible for my teammates, and absolute torture for me. I will never forget one set from that week. It was a set of 32x150s with a descending interval every four. By the last eight, I was no longer making the interval and struggling to keep up with my teammates, who ended up lapping me, as usual. But I still put every ounce of effort I had into that set, and swam every lap long after everyone else had finished. I challenged myself with a fierce determination to…

Across from me was a handsome, dark haired man, broad-shouldered holding a Les Paul classic custom guitar playing melodious songs while I lay on a nice big red beach chair. In my hand was a big glass of iced tea shimmering in the bright sun as I took a sip it cooled the inside of my throat causing me to keep my cool temperature in the hot summer. It was the perfect day to be out, with the sun casting just the right amount of shine to give me that perfect sun-kissed tan. I was lying on a beautiful red chair with my legs sprung up in a gorgeous white cotton maxi dress. As, I got up and started to walk towards the ocean I could hear the waves up ahead. I took my shoes off and set foot on the hot, white sand. I could feel the sand going through in between my toes from every step I took. As I stroll along the edge of the beach I feel free of worries and stress, I am just enjoying the holidays, no school, or work just free time. In the middle of the ocean were many surfers in yellow shorts riding in the various color surfboards. They were going so fast doing so many tricks…

When I was about twelve years old, I started playing volleyball at the YMCA. I was the worst one on the team, but my dad always encouraged me to do my best anyway. When I was , my dad decided to do a very brave thing: he volunteered to coach my volleyball team. He had absolutely no experience coaching or even playing volleyball, except for the occasional game on the beach, but after staying at practices every week to help me improve, he decided he would coach my team himself. He spent hours reading up on the rules of volleyball, he watched countless coaching videos, and he even bought one of those Coaching Volleyball for Dummies books.…

The first event was the swim. Of the three events, I was the weakest at swimming. Having only completed really cheap swimming lessons, I barely made it through the shoreline swim. I may have needed to stop and touch the bottom a couple of times. I was probably the worst swimmer there and the last one out of the water for sure. We started the swim in the water in an area where you could touch. The horn went off, and I was a little shocked so may have been a…

Then, with a twinkle in his eyes, he began to relate to me some of his adventures at sea. Once, during a storm, his boat was wrecked and smashed up but he was finally rescued by a passing boat after clinging to a piece of plank for one day and one night. Next, came his encounter with a hungry shark in the rough sea. He had been tossed into the water from his boat but he managed to escape from its jaws when a friend in another fishing boat helped him out of the water in time.…
