After months of following all of the primary candidates and the eventual two nominees for the two parties, I was unable to vote in the November Presidential election because I did not turn 18 until February. This devastation made me realize the great right it is to vote for who represents me and the country as a whole. Although I was unable to vote, I stayed up until midnight watching the results of the election on November 8th. The extreme differences between the two candidates’ policies either way would affect my next four years as I head to college. I think that the ability to change who leads the country every 4 years is important, but results of the Congress election would impact me as well. My favorite event in debate, International extemp, requires me to be very knowledgeable in what happens in other countries. In the past 4 years, I have read news about the Colombian government actions resulting in right violations to its’ own people, the Syrian Civil War and the North Korean communist dictatorship. After learning about all of these atrocious things, I have learned to be more thankful of the rights I have in the United States.
