My Imaginary Place
My havean would be a flower garden that streches out for miles. A white path erupts from the tangle of greenery, seeming to have been forgotten. With tulips brushing against my feet and sunflowers against a tangerine sky, lavender clouds head to the setting sun.
Following the path you come across a beautiful bridge, a pattern of yellow and red roses displaying from it's railings. You walk onto and across the bridge to see that it leads you over a mellow river. You see orange fish swim with the flow coupled with bear cubs, like in Brother Bear, watching their dinner swim by. Smiling at the thought of them using the fishing hooks.
You walk on by into a garden with a forest of autum trees. Vines monkey-bar between the trees and ladybugs chew holes into leaves the size of your head. You catch a glimpse of tree houses, army printed and ready for war. Black birds fly into leaves causing them to lose their grip and lazily fall on the bushes. You catch a few, crinkle them up and release them into the wind.
Turning left away from the white path, you run as you pass your hands on the flowers. You stop, you've found it; the torqouis ocean accompanied with waves, a sandy shore and bench. Do you dare to swim? Flinging off your shoes you challenge.
Your bare feet touch the moist sand as you scribbel your name with your big toe. Sitting on the bench you emerse yourself into solutiude. Moments later your walking with shoes at hand, following the path of ran over folwers. The sky still tangerine, the clouds eaten by the sun that refuses to sleep. You find the path you once tredded.
A gate with greenery as a right-side bang fills your vision. Laying your back against it's bars you try to absorb all the little details. Thorns stink into your back, the sky turns a dark purple, the sun less visible. You don't feel it, you long to return home. Your eyelids droup as you yawn. Murmur goodbyes to the flowers and waves before you fall asleep.

We were all sucked dry from the sun that day with zero energy left, we scavenged what we could and we still ate better than we could have at any local dinner. The day was still long and was only going to get hotter and longer even as the day came to a close. There was more things to do around the land than there was at any theme park. So as we all sat around and waited for something to do you could tell that everyone was thinking the same thing as sweat poured down all of our faces. The cold spring fed creek was the only thing that was going through my mind and I knew that was the only thing going through anyone else’s. We walked down to the creek as there was no other way that you could reach it, and as we got closer and closer you could hear the light eco of the fifteen foot waterfall coming off of the trees. The only thing I was looking for was the spit of the water flowing up through the large oak and misquote tree branches. You knew when everyone saw the water, you could see the sight of the crystal clear water shining off of everyones eyes and you could tell that there was a sudden sign of relief that came upon everyone after the long walk through the large misquote trees avoiding as many thorns and cactuses as they possibly could, being careful as could be you weren't going to miss all of them. And there was no better feeling than soaking your wounds in that…

The mountains were stone dark, secured with trees whose hues were a blend of woodsy cocoa, knoll, key lime, and margarita green. Scattered powder-puff mists gradually fled over the sky and the sun feed like a bolt. Seeing this made me feel like I inadvertently touched base to paradise. I breath gradually, attempting to recall each snapshot of me being encompassed by woodland, sky, and mountains. We began climbing the gigantic mountain, talking, grinning and chuckling together. After like an hour we sat down for a moment on an immense uneven and dusty rock close to the waterfall. The wind that blew through the trees into our confronts now conveyed a light sprinkle from the waterfall, and a clue of peace. The sound of the wind shrieking, the waterfall smashing against the stones and the fowls singing their wonderful tunes, made me feel considerably more joyful than I was at that point. We began moving to the top once more. My legs began to hurt yet I didn't give an indication of my torment. I raised my eyes to the sky, and my sight fell on the hawk who skimmed over the wind. At that time, I craved flying as well, over the mountains and over the oceans. I strolled slower now, thinking how brilliant it would be to fly, and the greater part of the…

The wooden sign has seen many moons, weathered down and carved into by the many travelers that visit the park annually. Soon after passing the sign, the terrain becomes slightly elevated. Your feet slowly tread through the coffee-brown dirt. The natural light from the heartwarming sun fades as the woods engulfs your body, forcing you to travel the cold, treacherous, one-way uphill hike. The setting now has an eerie tone due to the thick mist like atmosphere. Your lower body carrying your weight slowly becomes numb as your energy fades from the physically demanding voyage. When all was lost, dark mustard-yellow leaves release the smell of petrichor, revitalizing the soul as you attempt progress uphill. The light you once saw gradually becomes more prevalent. Your body screams for the warmth of the beloved sunlight, as you reach the…

The sun shone vibrantly through the trees and I loved the way it complemented the gold leaves. I started to notice the incline to the top of the hill, it was steady unlike the Adirondacks where you go up and down. When I got to the top I saw a spectacular view of the surrounding neighborhoods and way in the distance I saw the buildings of Rochester. As I stood there I admired the pure beauty that lies so close to home. It is hard to believe that a wilderness like this one could be surrounded by suburban neighborhoods. Being higher up and in an open space I could really appreciate the mixture of golds, oranges and yellows it was different than being on regular ground level. I thought to myself ‘’I should do this more often, it’s peaceful and healthy.’’ I felt a certain peace with in me while I’m in the woods, suddenly my phone vibration broke my train of thought. It was my stepmom texting me to see if everything was okay, I replied yes and I’d be back at the trailhead in a short time. The leaves snapped and cracked under my feet on the way back and the crisp fall air made the not yet fallen leaves dance in the trees, it was getting later in the day. I was three quarters through the loop so I was still fine,I wasn’t…

Artificial sweeteners are chemicals or natural compounds that replace the sweetness of sugar, without all of the calories. But sometimes the label 'sugar-free' masks calories present in the food or drink. Aspartame, which is in Equal is a common chemical sweetener with crazy possible side effects. Effects include hallucinations to seizures and brain tumors; it is hardly worth consuming for the sake of saved calories in my opinion. Then you also have Sucralose, which is known as Splenda. Recent research suggests that Splenda can enlarge both the liver and kidneys and shrink the thymus glands. Splenda reportedly can cause skin rashes, panic, diarrhea, headaches, bladder issues, stomach pain, and those side effects don't even sum it up. In addition to all of this, consider the waste involved in the industry of artificially sweetening. Ever stepped into a coffee shop and noticed a mound of sugar substitute packets building on the counter or in the trash? We've been wasting one of our most precious resources for the sake of a sweetener that can harm our bodies and prevent weight loss. So what you can do instead to get your sugar fix? Turn to natural sweeteners for your drinks and food alike. Honey, agave nector, organic maple syrup, brown rice syrup, and stevia are just a few natural sweeteners you can turn to. Not only will they wreak your body less, but your support of these sweeteners instead will, eventually, help to slow the production of toxic artificial sweeteners. I am interested in this topic because so many people that I know use artificial sugar. My mom however, has never let us use things like sweet and low or splenda because she was always aware of the bad things that happen in your body because of these artificial sugars. I want to be able to answer the question “well why is it bad?” when people ask me why they shouldn’t use splenda and sweet and low. I will approach this as an informative paper, letting the audience know why…

The trip around the lake was quick. Once we reached the other side we encountered a garden. The garden was very healthy and appeared to been well taken care of. It was full of bright, vibrant colors. The garden was filled with exotic beauty. Every type of flower you can think of. Some rare and some not. Vines were hanging everywhere and the ground was covered in a spongy moss that made you feel like you were sinking into it.…

I sit on the swing and softly swaying my body back and forth while kicking the rustling yellowish, golden leaves beneath my feet. The smells of the chimney smoke and the dry leaves that the fresh breeze scatters through the air tickle my senses. We had walked about a half hour when we reached the lake. We had recently started learning geography and I instinctively recognised the lake as the Sea of Azof. This was the first time in a large amount of time when I felt free, happy and, I didn’t know why, but I felt relieved. I was running around, playing with a large smile on my face when I saw something I had never before. I had come to this lake quite a few times but I had never noticed anything like this before. Through the dense shrubs and trees I could see something, maybe someone. I glanced to the side to check what the governess was doing. The governess wasn’t focused on me, so I moved a little closer to edge of the lake, however stayed close enough so she could see…

As I sit back and wait in the sand, I marveled at the view around and realized there is nothing like sitting at the ocean, with a line cast out in the water as dusk falls. I begin to notice the environment around me as I sit there, I can smell and taste the salty air I am so close to it. I can hear the waves continuously hitting and receding from the shore. Also, the kids playing on the beach and the bustling of the people on boardwalk can be heard off in the background. Also, seeing the expansive ocean without any sight of land and amazing sight whole new world and under there. Also, as the light orange sun falls down and reflects on the water it looks truly awesome.…

There was no visible light out. It was calm out tonight; mid night dew still fresh on my boots. The smell of fresh pine covered the bare spot of the forest I was now camped in. It was time to break camp; camping too long in one spot could give away my posion. I quickly put away the rest of the salted pork in my left leg pocket and mounted my gun on my right shoulder. I started to stand up, but very slowly as to not alert a fly. I finally reach mid standing (not quite standing, but not quite crouching.) I slowly creep forward, listening to every sound that I wasn't making. I crept slowly to the giant oak just one hundred feet east of my camp. It was still very early, and very dark. I finally made it to the oak and doing one more last check, I finally stood erect, confident that no one was around. As I started to head north of the oak, I placed the gun on my back and felt relived to not be on the look out for once. I began to do a slight jog. Fresh, crisp air began to fill my lungs, something that came to a nice surprise to my worn muscles.…

The howling of the wind brought my eyes to open. Where was I? Focusing in the dark of night, confusion washed over me as I came to realize I was in the desert. Distant landscapes of dry and worn rock surrounded me, and beneath my bare feet I felt the gritty sand caught between my toes. I was surrounded by those rocky hills and yet as I scanned the desolate desert it seemed never ending. The irony of the nighttime desert suddenly set into my body; that ghastly wind moving right through me and chilling my bones to that of splintering ice. The need to move started me forward though, and I felt a sharp ache all over, my body trying to fight against change. Was I lost? My heart began pounding fast in my chest, the blood pumping through my veins felt like an icy river. So slow, but I trudged onwards, hope holding onto a possible lie. It was when my pace held steady that a sudden wariness alerted me to foreign noises. Soft hissing sailed through the air waves, accompanied by a more mechanic static… What was that? It slid right into my mind and took me in a hold. I halted, my feet sinking into the sand. An uneasy paranoia gripped my chest as the noises mirrored me, pausing just as I did. Sickness rose like bile in my throat, I could feel eyes upon me… somewhere. I began to move again, desperate to leave this place now. Stubbornly, I stared towards the endlessness of the chilly desert, refusing to look back. I dared not to look back. A strong gale came, making my hair flail out behind me and the tiniest of noises began to spiral around my head with unseen stealth. The static came back, but mingled within it was a wicked giggling. I looked around uneasily, head turning to look and search all around me. Where was it coming from? All I saw was those silent, unmoving rocky hills…The giggling continued to move all around me, fading in and out of hearing range, corrupting me to an edginess that brought on an unwanted burst of adrenalin. Burning tears began to well up in my eyes,…
