In the film “Goodfellas”, a American crime film, he played a role where he was part of the mafia. I chose Carroll O’Conner for my character actor. One of his famous character roles was in 1971 in the sitcom “All in the Family” as Archie Bunker. He played an average working man who was known as a bigot. A lot of the humor of the show came from Archie arguing with his very liberal son n law. He was known for calling him a meathead. Later O’Conner jumped into the character as Chief Bill Gillespie in the series “In the Heat of the Night”. This character was racially progressive and politically liberal. He was a tough Mississippi cop who was smart and would use his gun if he needed too.
