“The Party of the Rich” by Tim Dickinson appeared in Rolling Stone’s November 24, 2011 issue. Dickinson demonstrated that since 1997, the Republican party feverishly cut taxes on the wealthiest portion of the population and abandoned the poor and middle class population. In the article “The Party of the Rich” Dickinson illustrated that the Republican Party has become the party of the rich since Ronald Reagan was president. Dickinson also suggested that Reagan is an appropriate icon for tax-cutting Republicans and a prime example of a tax-cutting, small expenditure president. Dickinson illustrated that Reagan closing tax loopholes allow millionaires to pay less in taxes compared to bus drivers.…
In regards to the tax reform part of the case, the problem stream includes the need to reduce taxes for middle class families and low-income families and to stimulate economic growth in certain industries. The Economic Recovery Tax Act (ERTA) was meant to lower taxes, but it increased perceived unfairness as it lowered taxes for corporations to the point they barely paid any taxes compared to what middle class families were paying. Another element in the problem stream is that the public supports most tax expenditures that provide benefits for…

Currently, you own all of the stock in Valley Hardware Store Inc., a corporation that operates in Viola, Idaho. Mr. Broker, of Big Investment Company has given you 2 recommendations: the first recommendation is that you should move your investments in Certificates of Deposits(CD’s) to state and municipal bonds; the second recommendation given is that you should take out another mortgage as additional capital to also be converted into Municipal bonds. Gov. Bobby Jindal’s tax plan proposal would phase out the states income tax and corporate tax by raising the sales tax throughout the state of Louisiana. In Jindal’s vision, cutting the states income tax and corporate tax in exchange of raising the sales tax, would generate more money for the state of Louisiana. He believed the proposal was part of the answer to budget crisis plaguing Louisiana, but other legislatures did not agree with the proposal. Legislature’s believed the proposal would weigh in to harsh on the poor and benefit the wealthy citizens of Louisiana only. The scrutiny of the tax plan caused Jindal to park the tax proposal (Adelson, 2013). Instead of going forward with the proposal, Jindal asked for the cooperation of legislatures in phasing out the state’s income tax.…

A moderate tax research problem often takes up to eight or ten hours of research time, and the bill for these services may approach or even exceed $2,000. Because of the costs that are involved, the tax researcher must work as efficiently as possible to obtain the solution to the client’s problem. The researcher needs a framework for the research process, so that he or she does not waste time and effort in arriving at a solution to the problem.…
