My Leadership Philosophy

Leadership is a quality a lot of people wish to have. It holds a great amount of power and when somebody obtains that power, it can be a big responsibility. Not always does this power and leadership fall into the right hands, but when it does, it can be an amazing thing. My favorite leadership quote is, “The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves” — RAY KROC.
This quote means a lot to me because it is truthful. It shows that not everyone is cut out for being a leader but one of the main determining factors in a good leader is the standards they set for themselves. I agree with this because what kind of person are you if you do not set goals for yourself or strive to be better than you were the day before? If a leader is not striving to be the best person they can be, other people see that and are not going to want someone like that in charge. People want a confident, hardworking leader who pushes themselves to be better every day. Being captain of the girls’ varsity soccer team forces me to step up and play that leader role that I have been given. I was voted into captain by my fellow teammates and I think that is an extremely special thing. The fact that my teammates look up to me and consider me as a leader shows what type of person they think I am. Throughout my soccer season, I have learned to do things that I have never done before. I have had to deal with calming down players during a game and even help encourage them if they are not doing as well as they wish. I have always loved leading, even if it is a group project or a soccer team. I think people need someone who steps up in charge so things can get done.
