Having the skills and knowledge for my own tasks in addition to knowledge about what is expected of those I am intended to lead will have a dramatic effect. I am not comfortable leading without any knowledge of what it is I am trying to lead others into. This lack of knowledge will show and since a big part of leadership is to influence others this lack of knowledge and uncertainty can be interpreted negatively.
The second principle of mine is communication without proper communication disaster soon follows with missed messages or even messages where the sender and receiver are just not on the same wavelength. Proper communication techniques need to be in place to prevent easily avoided issues, such as relaying vital information face to face as opposed to sending a text message.

I have not always made the best choices in life, which is why I did not attend college until the age of 29. I wanted to improve my life and life of my kids who were suffering because of the choices I made. I remember reading a quote that has stuck with me by Holly Lisle, “actions have consequences...first rule of life. And the second rule is this - you are the only one responsible for your own actions”. This made me get into making better decisions and being a better leader for my kids while also being accountable for my mistake and showing them not to give up when things get a little
