The hardships African Americans faced during the civil rights movement time period were unimaginable. They were always afraid of getting accused of a crime or taunted if they even much walked to a store. They had separate bathrooms from the whites and were treated unfairly. They all risked some even sacrificed their lives to get their points across about equality. For instance, Martin Luther King Jr. Promoted nonviolent marches for equality for African Americans. He received numerous death threats; however, he kept going in spite of risking his life. He later was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee and he will be remembered by his faithfulness to his cause of equality. Another person was Andrew Goodman. He bacame a civil rights activist and tried to help to have African Americans vote in Mississippi. He was later assassinated by the Ku Klux Klan. These two civil rights activists and many more were persistent and selfless to helping the
