Chantel Walton

PSY 202

I would have never thought I would be writing an essay at my age. What I’m writing id to let you know where I’m from, who are important to me, what I did with my friends, my family now and what would make me happy in the future. My name is Chantel Walton I’m from Emporia Virginia. Which is located about 35 miles from the capital of Virginia(Richmond). I was born and raised in Emporia which is not a big city, everybody knows everybody. My mom and dad played an important part in my life. They also are the two most important people in my life. My childhood was great due to my mom and dad they gave me the world. To this day I’m glad and bless they are still here with me. My parents had molded me into the lady I am today and I thank them for that. No matter what they was the only two people I could call on for anything besides my cousin. My cousin is more of a brother to me the brother I never had. He’s a year older than me but I always looked up to him. He never told me anything wrong everything was to better myself. It was things I felt comfortable telling him that I couldn’t tell my parents. For instant when I found out I was having my first child he was the first to know. For him just being my cousin he played a major part in my daughter life. He was there every day when I came home from the hospital with my daughter making sure I had everything I needed. He not only did it for her but for my other two as while. Now to this day my kids call him uncle instead of cousin.

Back in the days growing up I had three main friends that I hung out with everyday and did everything together. We have been friends since 6th grade. When we got to junior high school we all made the cheer leader squad and that brought us even closer. Outside of school we stayed at each other house on the weekends. In junior high we had these dances like spring ball, and winter ball instead of going with dates we went with together. We love going to the movies. As we went on to senior high school we were known as the 4 mustateers. We were never apart and again we all cheer the four years of high school together. That’s basically what I did with my friends. Now that I’m grown I have my own family that consists of Rashauna (daughter), Rashad (son), and Rakwan (son). Rashauna is my oldest child she is 13 and she’s a big help to me when it comes to cleaning and cooking. She will be in the 7th grade this coming school year and she is doing well in school. She maintains honor roll whole she is involved in cheering at the junior high and she also praise dance. She just continues to show and prove to me that she can do it all and keep her grades up. Rashad is my middle child he is 11 years old. Rashad will be attending 5th grade this year and he is also on honor roll. He plays football for the little league and is good at what he does. Now my baby boy is Rakwan he’s 9 years old and will be in the fourth grade. With Rakwan I have to stay on him about his grades but he is coming around to it. He also plays little league football which he is the quarter back. This is my family that I love all so much.

In the future I’m looking forward to a better career. A better career for me means a better life for myself and my kids. Not saying that our lives are bad but a better one will be great. A better job will put me at ease knowing I will have enough money for my bills and other family fun things to do with my kids, I know by me going back to school my dreams will finally come true. With my kids seeing me doing college classes hopefully they will find their selves going to college too. Rashauna already has a plan to attend college I’m just hoping she won’t side track. I tell all three of my Kids College will be the best thing besides graduating from high school. With a college degree there will be a lot of opportunities out there for them. After college and finding a good job I would be glad to see them start their own family. I hope they will tell them everything I ever told them to better their lives.

As you read about My Life Then and Now you would have learn so much about and my expectations for my future and my kids. As I wrote above I still have my best friends on my side who is continuing on my chase about staying in college so I can get my degree. We don’t really hang out like we used to do but forever talking on the phone. You learned of my three kids that I enjoy having with me. They are a joy to have and I have high expectations of them. As I complete my goal for having my Bachelor in Business Administration maybe they will follow in my footsteps in obtaining a college degree as well. Obtaining my degree will lead to me owning my family business as I talked about and maybe someday one of them can take over.

Although I have lived in Ohio for the past ten years and have been molded by the experiences I have had in the small town of Mount Vernon, I can still fondly remember everything about where I was born and raised. I was born on May 29th, 1998 in the small town of Irving, Texas. Growing up in Texas gave me a concept of how big this world truly is, with the seemingly endless drives to visit family members across state or the incomprehensible size of the Dallas skyline. Visiting my aunts in Texas and living with my grandmother during the first months of my living in Ohio taught me valuable life lessons and morals that I carry with me to this day.…

I have couple of best friends, all have them are friends of mine for more than nine years. And the one I think is most unique compare to other is the friendship I have with my primary classmate, Yannes. We met in each other in school when we were first grader, we somehow became friend right away, probably just because we sat next to each other. But we were arranged into different classes in our second and third year of elementary school, so we became a Hi-Bye friend in that period of time. From fourth grade, we were in the same class for three years in a row, which is how we get to know each other more and more and end up being each others’ best friend.…

My life begin when I was a mere 2 years of age when my parents adopted my twin sister and myself. My parents were on the older side, so their beliefs were conservative and strict, even from the beginning. Since my sister and I had been out of many foster homes until my parents adopted us, it was important that we had structure. There was always plenty of love and stability that I received and that is so important in the development in the early years. My parents were involved in every aspect of my childhood and that resulted in a sheltered and protective environment. It was hard to develop autonomy as a child and my own personality but my parents played such an important role in my development. I have developed such strong morals as an adult and that is attributed to my parents' role.…
