Some of us might live in the big city. A city with a high density of population. Many people who is mainly busy all week. People who are trying to get to work early in the morning and then during rush hour, these busy people is trying to get home to their families. While some of us might live on the countryside, surrounded by the beautiful nature, and the only thing busy here, is Mother Nature. She is busy trying to maintain order in nature. The wind howling and rushing from one tree to the next. Each of the lifestyles have their own benefits. However, which of the lifestyles is the best, might be hard to conclude. As a baby, she lived in the city of New York. However, her family chose to mover to the suburbs a bit later on in her life. Which she did not like. The big city was a place, more fitting for her. Therefore, as she grew older and had children of her own, she chose to raise them in the big city. She had a better feeling of living in the big city rather than living in the suburbs. Susan Cheever tells us of how the city and the countryside are two opposite places to live. She describes the life in the city as a clean and safe place. While her view of living on the countryside is rough and unsafe.
Susan Cheever has many examples of why the life in the big city is better than living on the countryside. In the big city, while ice-skating, there is no way that you might fall through the ice into an ice-cold lake. However, the chance of falling through the ice on a lake, out in the wilds of the countryside, is relatively very high. Swimming pools in the city, is clean and they are also clear of wild animals while the swimming pools of the countryside is ponds and lakes that you swim in, might contain wild animals and plants that may put your life in
