It was the summer of 2017, where I was in the plane travelling to Israel for two weeks with my boyfriend at the time. It was going to be a tough tournament as I was competing against women who have any age, when I was only sixteen. My goal of the tournament was to achieve a world ranking. I had to start from qualification, which I succeeded in by beating three girls. The final round to make the main draw of the tournament, I was up against a local Israeli girl, in which there was an overwhelming crowd support for her. I had woken up early from the heat, it was forty degrees, with very high humidity. Starting the day with the right nutrition, I cooked some eggs with toast and cut up watermelon. Prepared my tennis gear, I left the apartment to the tennis club which was a fifteen-minute walk by the water, and used this time to listen to my motivational music, which was Wild Thoughts by Rhianna. As soon as I reached the club, I did my physical warm up routine and trained thirty minutes, practising my strokes. They called on the speaker “Practise courts are finished. Matches will begin in ten minutes.” Feeling the butterflies in my stomach and the adrenaline, I waited by the tennis courts with beside me my boyfriend who supported and encouraged me. The first game of the match had begun, and it was noticeable that both our sill level and abilities were even. Both of us girls were trying to take the lead and hang in there. The points were very long, I began to wheeze in-between the points so I took longer breaks. My opponent took more confidence from the second set and had the momentum going into the third set. As soon as the second set was finished, I asked for a toilet break where I went and splashed my face with water and said to my self, “Its 1:1, we are equal, give it your all now.” I skipped back on to the court with energy, showing my opponent I am ready for this fight. Just like the first set it was a close start but I got my rhythm back and tried my best not to give one point away. With this mentality I won the third set 6:3. My opponent barley wanted to shake my hand from frustration as we walked off the court. My heart was pounding from happiness and could not wait to give my family the good news. This match taught me to never give up and to always believe. I became mentally tougher and gained self-belief. It was a match I would remember
