My Nursing Career Path
The career path I have chosen to major in at Randolph Community College is nursing. I am enrolled in the RIBN program so I will receive my bachelor’s degree through Winston Salem State University. I was supposed to swim for Wingate University and be a part of the swim team until injuries and a death in the family occurred. My decision of attending Randolph Community College has definitely impacted my life so far and I am very pleased with this decision. This field of choice has always had an impact on my life. I basically grew up around or in hospitals, whether it was my own health problems or grandparents going in and out for surgeries and chemotherapy. Seeing how much nurses have impacted my life inspired me to go into this field to help others, just as nurses has helped my family and I. Nursing has a wide variety of fields to go into once I get my degree, which leaves me with many options to choose from as I further my education in nursing. Depending on which field of nursing you go into depends on what type of duties you will fulfill in your job. Nursing is an all-around great career choice because not only do you impact patient’s life, but they impact yours as well. Adding to the importance of being a nurse, they are required to have at least an Associate’s Degree in nursing. “There are three levels of education that qualify a person to be a registered nurse: Diploma programs (3 years), Associate Degree in Nursing (2-3 years), and Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing (4 years). Courses covered in all nursing programs include physiology, anatomy, chemistry, microbiology, nutrition, psychology, liberal arts, and social and behavioral science”
