Pick one of the short stories listed and write a literary analysis using one critical approach (limited to those discuss in this class only and listed on your syllabus). You will be expected to structure your paper (beyond a 3 paragraph essay), this will include the following:
Title: make your title creative and thoughtful – not A Literary Analysis of…
Introduction: briefly introduce the selection you have chosen to write about and clearly state your thesis
Body paragraphs: this is the bulk of your analysis, which should also include quotes from the text. Please refer to your SF Writer for proper in-text citation. A work cited page is also a must!
Conclusion: bring your analysis and argument to a close.
This paper is a literary analysis with application of a critical approach. This means you must know your critical lens prior to using. This also means you will only be able to use the tools of that particular lens to make your observations, interpretations and analysis. Please write in literary present.
NO outside source, unless your critical approach allows it, if so you are limited to one.
Review MLA PowerPoint for proper quoting and in-text citation rules, located in the “Everything MLA” folder. Your Writer’s Reference book is also a helpful tool.
