My Personal Culture Analysis

I was born in Scarborough, my background is Srilankan and I speak Tamil. My personal culture is rooted in some Canadian culture however it is mostly influenced by the Tamil culture. My family is huge, my dad has 11 siblings and my mom has five siblings in total I have 31 first cousins. The majority of us are all close. A word that I will use to describe my personal culture will be mellow and peaceful. My family and I practice the religion Hinduism. Like every Hindu, we celebrate Diwali. On this special day, my entire family goes to my cousin's house and put fireworks. Some of the other festivals that we celebrate are Pongal, Karthika deepam, Tamil new year and Navaratri. All the festivals that my family celebrates create union within us since we all get to see each other at one place. Every single day we pray at home at least twice a day and go to the temple on special occasions. Every weekend, my family and I go outside together and watch a Tamil movie at home. We make sure during the rest of the week we have at least one meal together as an entire family. Traditionally, we are supposed to eat our food on banana leafs but my family uses plates, spoons, and forks. Most of the dishes we cook at home, we use our hands to eat it. Even our wedding are mellow. Our weddings similar to an Indian wedding last for 7 days the only difference is on the actual wedding day there isn't any dancing because many years ago dancing was associated with funerals. However, now it's turning around. The registration is the fun part and the wedding is more traditional. My family and I every summer go to Wonderland, Niagara falls, and Montreal. During summer vacation all my cousins that don't live in Canada come over. Every three years my family and I go to Sri Lanka and a European country to see my
