My Personal Experience In My Life In Nagpur
Love thy neighbor; this proverb is not only applicable to humans but animals as well. I have always shared my home with different kinds of beings, be it dogs, cats to monkeys, cows, birds etc. I come from a place called Nagpur, which is a developing city from Maharashtra, India. The surroundings have been very similar to a stereotype Indian scene people would imagine with cows on the streets, dogs and so on. From a very tender age I loved being in the house yard with my grandfather, always eager to explore. Since I am the only child to my parents, both of who are working. I always used to be alone at home. I would feed T the stray cats and dogs and try to copy my grandfather who loved creating Bonsai. As time passed this affection and fondness …show more content…
The fondness for nature made me go for Himalayan Treks, since the age of twelve, I have been going for Himalayan Trekking camps. Even tough I had a phobia of heights I completed all my treks. These experiences that I had through these camps made me stronger both mentally and physically. Those mountains and the people over there taught me a very important lesson, to never give up and always have courage. The very first experience where I was really shaken was during my Junior college admissions. Here in India, we have community based reservation system for admissions to Colleges. This system has various loopholes from which I had to pass in order to get into a Junior College. Although I had decent grades with which I could get into the stream and college of my choice, I was not given the subject of my interest, but I managed to get in the college. This was the first time when I had experienced such flaws, where merit was not acknowledged. In this situation I remembered the times when I had to climb the craggy mountain to reach to the peak thus, with the support of my parents I took this as a lesson and decided to do even better for my future endeavors. For my undergraduate studies I had options ranging from Law to Engineering, my father being a Lawyer, much for everyone’s surprise I chose to do Architecture only for one reason that I was sure Law and Engineering were not my forte and my keen interest in art also paved my way towards Architecture. Even though I was weak in mathematics I prepared for the entrance exam and got good marks and thus I got into VNIT, one of the prestigious institutes in India for

As the 14th Dalai Lama wrote in his book Beyond Religion: Ethics for a Whole World, ¨Recognizing our shared humanity and our biological nature as beings whose happiness is dependent on others, we learn to open our hearts, and in doing so we gain a sense of purpose and connection with those around us¨ (H.H. Dalai Lama 73). Thus, when one performs an act that opens his heart and connects him to the world around him, he is sharing his humanity. People must understand the necessity of shared humanity in their lives because the aspects it encompasses are what distinguish them as human beings. In Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck demonstrates the validity of humans being able to share their humanity through love and sacrifice.…

One time when I challenged my own beliefs, I questioned my own skills. It was one of the most crushing and confusing moments of my life. I was indecisive, hesitant, and most certainly doubtful. I couldn’t even imagine myself, an inexperienced sophomore, working in a career major that I’ve never even thought of doing in the first place.…

When I was in high school I wasn't a very good student. I really didn't apply myself to anything. I had no dreams of going to college or doing anything special with my life. No one had ever encouraged me to do any better than I was or to try harder. My parents were not college graduates, they both had full time jobs plus nine kids to raise. I knew that there wasn't any money to send me to college, and my guidance counselor never explained to me about financial aid. I graduated, got a job and worked one dead end job after another until I got married and started a family. I spent the next fifteen years raising my daughter and encouraging her education. About a year ago my husband decided he wanted a divorce and I was left wondering; “What am I going to do now?” Since graduation I have regretted not going to college, I have always wanted to work with children, either as a counselor or in social work. My parents suggested that maybe I look into going back to school. I applied at Southern New Hampshire University and I was admitted. My first reaction was that I'm going to fail, I started by taking two classes every eight weeks and to my surprise I didn't fail and I loved it. I had to take some time off to finalize the divorce and when I was mentally ready I applied to Ashford. I started last year thinking that I was going to fail and realized that if I try hard enough I can achieve my goals. I'm not scared of failing anymore, I am however afraid of letting myself down for not trying hard enough, and for me that isn't good enough anymore. I want better for myself and I want to look in the mirror everyday and be proud of who I see.…

During my time at Gwynedd Mercy University, I experienced many hardships that today made me a stronger student. When I first attended Gwynedd Mercy University, my parents encouraged me to choose a major where I would have a career in allied health. Unfortunately, deep in my heart I knew it was something I did not want to pursue but I knew it would make my parents happy. As the semesters went on, I tried to keep up with the studies but science was just something I was not good at. This led me to struggle and choose another major. It took me a while to finally choose what I wanted to do and I always wanted to pursue a career that would help people in ways other than allied health sciences. I chose to declare Human Services as my major and I became very content. However, things were still not easy for me. The middle of my college years, I became very ill. I suffered from many illnesses that set me back on attending classes. At this same time, I grew into depression and anxiety because I did not want to use sickness as an excuse, but knowing that I was not in my best physical and mental state really discouraged me. As my illness went on, my family was hit with my mother being the only source of income. This led me to having to work extra hours at the crack of dawn before classes, attending classes, then…

Two short years ago I made a decision that would shape my entire future and mold me into the person I always had hoped to be. It was an irrational decision, made purely on assumptions, and naivety. I decided to join an Agricultural & Environmental Science class during the start of my junior year. Prior to entering the program, I had a very sparse knowledge of agriculture and placed little value on the subject. I was simply enthralled just to be apart of a class that would allow me to study animals, and gain hands on experience. However, little did I know, that the moment I was accepted into this Agricultural class, my entire life would change. For two years now, I have been blessed to immerse myself in my Agricultural program, and FFA chapter.…

Making decisions can be extremely difficult but one of the worst feelings a person can have is having a decision made for you. Although one may consider these changes in direction to be trivial, in truth they may actually have the power to alter the path of one’s life. Like many Grade Twelve's, I put my fate into the hands of the Admissions Office of each prospective University. I had done everything I could in the beginning of the year to get respectable grades and be accepted into all the schools I wanted, just so I had every possible option available to me. It started off well, with my early acceptance to Queens University and University of Alberta but then came McGill University. It had been one of my top choices, and I was tremendously disappointed. Although I have now accepted that I have no chance of attending McGill this upcoming Fall, it was still painful to think that an entire future, a whole different person that I could have become, died away with that one rejection letter. In time, I realized there was nothing left to do but to go check out the other universities. Fortunately, I fell in love with the Queens University campus just two weeks ago after visiting it for the first time. As Martin Luther King Jr. said, "We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope." Though I may not be able to control the unexpected twists in my life, at least I know that I will always be able to face any upcoming challenges with a strength…

Since my teenage I wanted to become a computer engineer and work for multinational organization which not only pays well but also will have the opportunity to travel abroad. I am from a middle class Indian family where bearing the costs of studying from an English medium school is hard and yet my parents helped me study in English medium school. I studied English medium during all my schooling which helped me develop my literacy skills. I started learning computers since my 10th grade. . This was the time of mid 1995 when the computer classes were first introduced in my school in India and I was one of the member of the first batches that was offered the basics of computer and little bit of programming. This was the beginning and I was getting interested to learn more about computers. We also had to take up a exam at the end of the course to prove our competency in the subject though it was not part of the 10th grade board exam. I scored 83 out of 100 which gave me confidence that I can succeed in this field of study. From there on during my 11th and 12th grade I took computer science as my specialization and also completed Bachelor’s Degree in computer science. After my graduation it was time to look for my dream job but consulting with friends, family and seniors in college I realized that the degree that I earned is not just enough to…

I was eager to go and explore the world by myself for the first time. I was so excited I was trembling, I was biting my nails in frustration. I was praying that I would open the mailbox and a huge white envelope would be in there. I checked the mailbox day after day, night after night and there was still no mail from Radford! I started contemplating if going to college was the right thing to do. As each day went by, questions started to circulate me. I started to think, “I'm not cut out for this, I'm not smart for this, I can't make it in college, what have I've done!” The best thing for me to do was to throw myself in my pillow and just…
