My Personal Philosophy
My Pursuit of Life “A good decision is based on knowledge and not numbers.” Wise words from Plato lessening the importance of quantity. As I continue to learn about this man and his beliefs, the more influence he has on my own Personal Philosophy. Not only have his stories impacted me as a person, they have driven me to figure out who I am and what I believe in. I have been able to come up with my own ethic, logic, and truth on life. I believe there is no action that goes unimpacted. Whether the outcome of the action is good or bad, there is always some sort of consequence. Ethically, your life is measured not by the quantity, but the quality of it. With my logic and ethic, I have determined what I believe is
“the good life.” To live the good life is to have the ability to overcome bad events and situations that take place in it so that you are able to carry on with improving the quality. As we all know, life is not perfect. According to Plato in “The Allegory of the Cave” when we realize it’s flaws, we ‘leave the cave of the unknown.’ We leave the cave and are exposed to the true light, or the

real truth. But we mustn't allow that to blind us, better yet we must grow accustomed to the true light. Being exposed to the true light for me was a rough yet worthwhile journey. In the beginning of my freshman year, my parents parted their ways. My father had an affair on my mother. I’m sure his intent was not to hurt anyone, but the outcome of the situation was a lot of hurt people. This event helped shape my logic that no action goes unimpacted.
