My Personal Statement To University Of South Wales
PERSONAL STATEMENT
AHMED ALALAQI

This is my application to the University of South Wales, to study the MSc Engineering
Management program. By completing my studies at South Wales, this MSc will complement and enhance my engineering career. This will not only i mprove our standards of living but this ensures a legacy for the future generation. I believe that good links between engineers and management are essential for an efficient and profitable future for Libyan industry.
I intend to pursue a career in Engineering and Management so that I can be part of this quest to modernize our lives. The application is supported by my CV and evidence of my qualifications, references and my eligibility to study. This will verify the information contained within this application.
I am an extremely industrious student, and believe the more you put in to studying
(as with all aspects of life), the more you get out of it. Studying increases knowledge, and confidence. This in turn increases curiosity, leading to further study. I decided to complete a MSc in Postgraduate Research to further my career, by exploring the diverse nature of engineering practices and I wish to acquire and comprehend the techniques that are employed in this array of fields. I have spent a great deal of time researching all of the options open to me and believe it's a challenging career which creates wealth and adds value to the places we live and work.
From my research, the University of South Wales is my first choice. I have compared this university with all the alternatives and have decided this is where I would like to study. This decision is due to the university’s good reputation in teaching and research. To succeed in life, you have to remain focused on what is important to achieve your goals, and therefore it is important to know what you want and why this will help reach where you need to be. This is a self reflective process, which is not an easy one, but will identify why you want what you do.

Putting a scheduled time towards studying will have a big difference on the grades that a student will receive in class. For example, there is a test coming up and the student only has two days to study, so that person must make a deliberate choice to spend time studying or going out with friends, and the grade will reflect the effort. Moreover, spending the time and effort on studying can have a positive emotional effect. People enjoy rewards for hard work and the resulting high grades show the students that effort is truly worth the long hours of reading and…

What is a goal? The Oxford Dictionary describes the word goal as "The object of a person 's ambition or effort; an aim or desired result." Goals are personal or professional and can vary in length from days, weeks, to months, and/or years.
