Supervisor : Prof. Chao Lee Tarng
Team Members : 1) Amruta Pimpalkhare 2) Madura Marathe 3) Soumil Kulkarni

The purpose of this project is to gather in-depth knowledge of the of the selected topic which is , “Wireless Technology”. The points that are covered in detail under this study project are, Wi-Fi 802.11, Mobile IP Infrastructure , Distributed Systems , Antenna Technology , Authentication and Encryption .

[1]IEEE 802.11 is an IEEE standard which is used in the implementation of a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) in specific frequency bands. A Distributed system is a collection of autonomous computers which are connected through a network and share the system resources. The description also talks about the different antenna technologies used in the modern times eg. multiple input multiple output type. One of the main aspects of using Wireless LAN is the use of a particular network only for those devices and people that are authorized. The Authentication and encryption typed that are covered in this study project are Open system Authentication , Shared Authentication , Wired equivalent Privacy, WiFi protected Access ,etc. [2]The project also covers Mobile IP infrastructure. The IP based network access uses an internet standard , Mobile IP, to support macro-mobility of mobile hosts , and HAWAII to support micro-mobility and paging functionality of current wireless networks.

Wireless communication has become an important feature for commercial products and a popular research topic within the last ten years. There are now more mobile phone subscriptions than wired-line subscriptions. Lately, one area of commercial interest has been low-cost, low-power, and short-distance wireless communication used for \personal wireless networks." Technology advancements are providing smaller and more cost effective devices for integrating computational processing, wireless communication, and a host of other functionalities. These embedded communications devices will be integrated into applications ranging from homeland security to industry automation and monitoring. They will also enable custom tailored engineering solutions, creating a revolutionary way of disseminating and processing information. With new technologies and devices come new business activities, and the need for employees in these technological areas. Engineers who have knowledge of embedded systems and wireless communications will be in high demand. Unfortunately, there are few adorable environments available for development and classroom use, so students…

This summer I decided to do my senior project on mechanics and auto body detailing. During the processes of my senior project I learned many new skills. For example I learned how to weld and work on engines. I started working around May and saved up some money to buy myself a decent looking truck. I spent 2,200 dollars on my truck. Which I said to myself, “Wow that is very cheap” yet it actually wasn’t so much. After I bought the truck, I started driving it around and after a week of driving it I knew something was not right.…

A research paper abstract is an essence of the research paper itself, written for a specific purpose and in very precise words and would only be written if asked for. Often professors ask students to write an abstract which would explain in simple and precise terms, the purpose of the research and the conclusion. Sometimes, before going through the research paper itself, readers often prefer to go through the research paper abstracts which help them in choosing which research paper to pursue further. A typical abstract should provide the following information:…

The concepts of wireless network security consist of commitment of cyber security and maintaining security based on the latest development and exploits against the network K.W. Ross, J. K. (2012). Wireless Network Security is based on the principles of cryptography, message integrity, authentication, securing e-mails, securing TCP connections: SSL, securing Network layer: IPsec, securing wirelsess: LANs, securing the operational security structure, such as the firewalls and the IDS K.W. Ross, J. K. (2012). This security measure would cover the detection of intrusions, unauthorized usage, authentication, hashing, digital certification, updated security software, network security, hacking prevention, phishing prevention and encryption K.W. Ross, J. K. (2012). There are many risks, threats, and vulnerabilities with online access and usage of the internet, regardless if wired or wireless and all should be secured. Wireless devices communicate through radio without a connection to anything physical Radack, S. (n.d.). The wireless device may be a cell phone, laptop, local area network, remote controls, stereos, personal network, microphones, a headphone, IPad, IPod, etc. It is important to secure the access points because the system may be compromised by unauthorized persons for theft, or other risk factors. The internet could be used by someone unknown, without the user’s permission or knowledge and simply to commit crimes using the user’s credentials. This report will show the importance of securing a wireless system and why it is important.…
