Using the most updated technology, caring for patients, and working in a lively healthcare environment make sonography an enjoyable career. Sonographers are challenged daily to provide the best possible examination and care towards their patients. The field of ultrasounds and career opportunities are widely growing. Sonography offers a wide range of workplace options, along with a variety of specialties. Seeing that this job would not just be found in an emergency room or an operating room, sonographers can work at private offices, clinics, medical laboratories, and sometimes mobile ultrasound companies(Jobs). Most sonographers are hired for full-time, but some must work nighttime and weekends(Jobs). The degree field for this profession is sonographic and radiologic technology. The degree level isn’t as high as what most medical careers require, but having an associate's or bachelor’s degree and sometimes certificate programs for those who have experience is what is needed. There is no required experience before becoming a sonographer other than the schooling and training. Very little states require licensure for this job, although sonography certification is required by many employers, along with basic life support and CPR certification. Being a sonographer also comes with a strong average salary of $69,000. As medical careers flourish, the need for technicians in many fields of medicine are increasing. “Most new sonographers enter the field with a two-year associate degree in sonography or the equivalent military training program” stated Decker, “Some already hold related degrees in other fields, and can qualify in sonography by taking a one-year certificate program”(Decker). Some sonographers begin by training as generalists, then learn specialized skills in the workplace. Sometimes sonographers complete training programs focused on just one specialty. Specializing…
I have wanted to go to Shawnee State since my 11th grade year when we had college day at our school, and I got to talk to them and found out they have a radiology program available. Radiology has been what I have wanted to go to college for since 7th grade but more recently, I have fallen in love with Medical Assistant and Dental Hygiene. I have always loved helping people (even though I have the patience of a new mother with 6 children) so the medical field has always interested me. The definition for a radiologic technologist is "Radiologic technologists are the medical personnel who perform…
For my future degree, I have decided to be a Radiologic Technician, for the people that does not know what a radiologic technician is, it is a person that performs diagnostic imaging examinations, such as X rays, on patients. They take images of your body to see if you have any broken or fracture bones. The x-rays will show if your body is in good condition. Everyone has different jobs in this part of the medical field. There are various names for this type of work, but you are referred to as a Radiologic Technology. When you are advancing your college degree there are many different options that you can choose from in this field,…
First off let me tell you writing is not my strong suit! I'm applying for a Kaiser Permanente Scholarship for my Radiologic Technology Program. I was not given anything as far as specifications and my prompt is "a written essay describing personal goals, achievements and accomplishments". Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance. Here is what I've come up with:…
Do you prefer to have a good job or good career? I prefer to have a good career which happens to be sonography. A sonographer also known as an ultrasound technician uses high frequency sound waves to produce an image of soft tissue. Sonography is a good career because of its wages, flexibility, and the amount of school required for this particular field.…
As an undergraduate at IUPUI, I'm eager to pursue my goal and obtain an associates degree in radiography. Accomplishing this goal would be a major deal to me as it will be the opening gate to my career as a radiologist. I expect to use my degree to full use and dive straight into the medical field directly after graduation. My plan is to start my career as radiographer at any hospital and to eventually specialize as an MRI technician. From that point in my career the goal is to continuously advance through the field becoming a radiologist assistant and one day be a full time radiologist physician. I believe IUPUI will guide me the right direction in doing what I want to do for the rest of my life.…
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a CT scan technologist? Well, I think it would be an awesome experience to be a CT scan technologist. A CT scan technologist would walk into work and get to see images of the human body. It would be somewhat scary to see how bad someone could be injured. Let me tell you a little bit about a CT scan technologist.…
Radiologist is very interesting, to me, and I believe that I would be extremely excellent for this job. I have the main skills you would need to be a radiologist: I’m a great communicator, I pay attention to details, and I work well individually and in group work. I really want to become a radiologist because I like to help people and their health is important to me.…
A medical imaging student with bias for Diagnostic Radiography, a clinical profession within the allied health and working in the National Health Services (NHS)…
The next step to becoming a Radiologist I will stay focused in college. I will start by getting out of my old habits like staying off my phone during class. This will keep me from wondering off and actually paying attention to what the instructor is teaching the class. In addition, I won’t be bothered by my friends and will finish all my work that is due at…
The reason why I want to become a medical sonographer is because I want to help people who want to know what’s going on in their bodies and help them with their lives in general. From finding tumors or any abnormalities in the body to seeing the developments of soon-to-be born children of expectant mothers. How I got informed about medical sonography was back in junior year of high school. For my continuing science class for that year, I chose human anatomy and physiology. During that time, my teacher wanted to show her class a paper which had different professions in the medical field. She thought it would be great for us to know what kind of options are there but also she wanted to show the seniors what kind of careers they should to take…
It would be my pleasure to apply for the opening within your company as a sonographer.…
During the first career exploration assignment, my desired occupation was to work as a Health Communications Specialist. In this line of work, I would work with individuals to help them understand more about medical treatment, help choose healthy lifestyle and focus on disease prevention. If this doesn't work out, my alternative career path would be to become a Radiation Therapists. A radiation therapist is a person who treats cancer and other diseases by administering radiation treatments the patient.…
Since I was a little girl I always dreamed about working in the medical field now that I am older and ready to start the path to my career I have chose on becoming a Ultrasound Technologist for various reason. To begin with what gave me the extra push on deciding this particular career path as a Ultrasound Technologist was attending my mothers pregnancy ultrasound appointments and the excitement we would receive when the sonographer would demonstrate to us on the screen my little brothers face, arms and legs. It's an unexplainable excitement we would receive and I want to be able to give that same feeling to others, it excited me that hopefully in a couple years this dream of mine will come true.…
