When one grows up in America, they are often told that they are free, but is this actually true? Not necessarily. It is true that America offers more choice and opportunities than some other countries, but the American people have begun to stretch out what freedom really is. With each passing year, the American dream that so many people have sought after, becomes more and more elusive due to money being the only way to get it. Not to mention laws, even good ones, cannot be in place for true freedom to take place. America, land of the “free”, is not truly free.…

We are fortunate to have the most dedicated teachers and professors who seek to educate our young generations so that they may grow up and make a positive impact on our society. America is fortunate to have such dedicated citizens undertaking the responsibility of keeping America at the top. It is my responsibility to America to preserve this country for the generations to come. People before me paved the way to a great American life, and it is every one of our responsibilities to keep it that way. My responsibility to America is to be an informed voter, knowing what candidates for public office think, and using my own moral judgment to vote for the best choice. I’m not yet old enough to vote, but I still know what’s going on in the elections, because it is my responsibility to elect leaders who will keep our country safe.…

My role as an American Catholic is to do as much as I possibly can for my country, spread my Catholic morals and God’s love through the good deeds I do for others in my community, and promote justice. Justice is giving people what they rightfully deserve. This is done through the good, selfless acts that we commit. My role is the same as millions of others in different parts of the United States. We all do what we can to do good for others because it has been instilled in us since we have been born by our parents and…

I saw an article from the news a few days ago; it says an old woman slipped down on the street in china, most of the people wouldn’t help, and others of them tried to get so close but still wouldn’t lend any help. Therefore the old lady was lying there for over 20 minutes in the cold and wet street and waiting for someone “brave enough” to get her to the hospital, only because they all worried about been getting blamed and take the responsibility of all the money for hospital which can be seen as defraud. So I start to wonder “do we have duties to others”. Some people maintain that we have no duties to others’, we should always care about ourselves above all, or they believe “help” is something they will do only by duties such as clean the floor or even teach a lesson. But other people have opposite opinion that they believe they do have duties to help others, especially when people need help, because we are been helped all the time. Personally, I believe we should help others if we have the ability and we have responsibility to spread the goodness to others.…

Many people wonder what is the greatest right that people possess, enabling them to enjoy freedom. Many claim that the right of self-defense is the most important one, while others argue that the right of self-expression or some other right is more important. However no one seems to realize that the greatest enabler of right and freedom is individual responsibility. Without individual responsibility, rights hold no meaning. But in order for everyone to comprehend the importance of individual responsibility there are certain questions that need to be answered such as, what does this individual responsibility include or what are the most important responsibilities that an individual should take care of in his or her society? In my opinion, although every individual has many responsibilities in any society, the most noteworthy responsibilities that every individual should take care of is to be respectful and law abiding citizens, to play an active and participatory role in the society, to contribute to the advancement and progress of the society but also to be capable of disobeying and resisting to unjust laws.…
