My Room
My room is my one and only domain where I carry out various leisure activities such as studying, watching films and television, listen to music, talk on the phone, surf the internet, etc. My room is painted all pink; also, most of the things in my room are all pink. As someone enters my room, the first thing that he or she will see is a cream dresser with a stylish design coated on it. In it, lie all my clothes and personal belongings. Then on the other side of my room, a black plasma television resided on the wall which I enjoy watching my favorite movies, and television shows. Opposite of that, is my full size bed which has pink covers. Also right behind it is the room window, which has sparkly and pink curtains. Next to my bed I have a nightstand where my stereo is on top of it; also on one of the drawers I have my favorite book. On the wall next to my bed, I have a huge sign that says "PRINCESS", and around it are pictures from my sweet fifteen. Across from my bed I have my studying and relaxing area where I have a pink desk with my laptop and printer. Right next to it I have a beanbag chair with reading books around it, and that's where I relax, read, and study. Then I have a walk-in closet where I have lots of shoes, clothes, school supplies, and personal belongings. My room is my absolute favorite room in the house, that's where I study and relax. I enjoy my room, and I enjoy doing pretty much anything as long as it's in my

The climate in the northern part of the Canadian Shield is extremely cold, with average temperatures in July ranging from forty to fifty degrees. When you walk into my room, on the left wall there is a white dresser that has 6 rectangular drawers, and above that is a crummy and dirty mirror (its old). On the dresser, there will be a tall Big Bird Funko Pop, and there are most likely to be fancy earrings on top of it. Next to that will be a small stack of designed notebooks and a variety of books with a bigger Cannon camera. Depending on the day there will be a tall and slim water bottle or a stout, white defuser and an essential oil next to it. Following the dresser, still on the left wall, is a worn out TV tray. On that, there is a Harley Quinn Funko Pop, an empty box of tissues, my gross iPad charger, along with my iPad, and my phone charger. A little above the TV tray is a large…

    The House I Live In

The war on drugs whether wrong, right, or indifferent, has yielded a plethora of life changing outcomes for many United States citizens. Both the plaintiff and the defendant have their own side of the dispute, and yet somehow the plaintiff in the non-stop ‘cash grab’ that’s so conveniently nicknamed the “War on Drugs” gets the benefit of zero-tolerance, or minimum sentencing. In most cases the defendants simply are doomed from the beginning due to horrible living conditions and lack of jobs in the area. Coupled with police brutality and prejudice pointed toward the African-American community as a whole, it should come as no surprise that in 2011 there were more African-Americans in prison or “under the watch” of the justice system than were enslaved in the United States in 1850. This is not any more a war on drugs than the Iraqi Conflict was a war on the seizure of weapons of mass destruction.…

    A Room on the Roof

Savyon Liebrecht was a child of survivors from the Holocaust and like many other children who went through the same experience; she had to deal with the trauma of the past. This admired contemporary writer has grown up, and through her writings, it is evident that she is still trying to understand and live with the "silence" which her blood relations bestowed upon her. A Room on the Roof displays the innate tension when prejudice, misunderstanding and fear that arises when not knowing, and questioning what is known to ones self. It seems that individuals adopt thinking, values and beliefs of those around them, which is primarily learned from families. With this, our judgments are clouded by the values we were raised with and that in turn, affect our worldviews.…

In a time where the digital age has taken over our lives, our initial meeting represented a pure fashion of two individuals conducting their business as usual and destiny meeting its fate. With both of us working in the healthcare industry, Methodist Hospital was the scene that setup the perfect place for our lives to come together and eventually lead us to live happily ever after. Walking through the hospital one day, Lawson, as a vendor of the hospital and Shay, an employee of the hospital, sat at her desk not knowing that her natural beautiful looks would attract her soon to be husband. As a gentleman caller, Lawson approached Shay and introduced himself and proceeded to request a phone call from her by delivering his business card.…

    A Room Of One's Own

Virginia Woolf authored A Room of One’s Own, a book containing what would have happened had Shakespeare had a sister. Woolf first writes, “Shakespeare himself went… to the grammar school”( 46). Woolf’s word choice of “Shakespeare himself” excludes Judith from what Woolf writes next. This immediately begins contrast between Shakespeare’s experience and his sister Judith’s experience. Furthermore, Woolf lists all of the opportunities Shakespeare had, like “grammar school” and “seek[ing] his fortune in London” (46) then contrasts those statements by saying, “Meanwhile [Shakespeare’s] extraordinarily gifted sister, let us suppose, remained at home” (47). Woolf used the word “ meanwhile” to directly contrast Shakespeare’s mass of opportunities…

    My Grandparents Cabin

The morning air was crisp and clean. The lake in Minnesota is calm and placid. The putt-putt of the motor on the boat, and the mournful cry of the loons are the only sounds breaking the quiet. I put the minnow on the hook and cast the line .The bait flies across the lake and my hook falls next to the boat. My first time using live bait did not go so well. The next cast my Uncle Mike did for me and needless to say it was much better. The Northern Pike I caught on that cast wrapped around the anchor, and we finally had to bring the motor out of the water to net it. It was 22 inches long and got my picture in the paper that day. This is one of many memories that make my grandparents’ cabin so special to me.…

    Perfect Place to Relax

Up to now, I have owned this room for five years. It is designed and decorated in the way I like. The walls of the room are painted light blue which is my favorite color. This kind of color makes the room not only cool but also spacious. The wall in front of my bed is decorated by myself. In the middle of the wall, I put the biggest and the most beautiful photograph. A middle-aged man sits comfortably on the bench; his arm is draping around the shoulder of a woman next to him. She bends her head on his broad shoulder, having a beam of satisfaction. Two little girls in lovely, pink dresses stand behind them, smiling happily- pretty smiles as like as the woman. Next to two girls are two young men. One in a smart suit has a square face. His light brown eyes look straight in a sensible way. The other seems younger than him, but he gives other people a friendly and warm look. They are very happy and satisfactory. This is my family photograph. Around this photo, I put some snaps that I took not only with my family but also with my friends. These remind me of memorable and great moments with them who always give me lots of support; and they become my motivators which help my mind stronger to get over whichever difficulties.…

    My Messy Room

    • 938 Words

I am currently sitting in my bedroom, on a cold winter day. My feet touching the rough surface of my ancient Persian carpet, walls of orangey orange stare at me through the pictures on them, and the mountains of dirty clothes falling over me as if there was an avalanche going on. Today is not going well as I feel stressed from all the chores that I have, plus the cleaning of my over infected room. Even though every visitor that gets to see my room may suffer blindness from seeing the mess, I love this room because it has a certain warmth and glow that allows my mind to rest in peaceful bliss. Yes, maybe there is a smell of wet dog and there are pets that I never brought home crawling around every corner of this room but it is the place where I grew up and feel safe to be when I am down. There are so many great treasures hidden in this room that as soon as I clean, I feel water drops fall from my dark brown eyes and run across my cheeks until they fall from my chin and hit the floor. Out of a 24 hour day I may only take 7 hours to get this place spotless and be able to observe the wonders hidden inside of the black door that covers the entrance.…
