This book is about a Jewish girl named Annie. Her life completely changed around 1941. When Hitler had started to do the bad things to the Jewish. She had two sisters, Rachael and Sini. They lived in Winterswijk. They weren’t safe living there, so they moved to the woods. Their mother was sick, so she didn’t want to go to America. She ended up in the hospital. But she died a week before they were taking Jewish people from the hospitals. The Germans wanted more people to go to the concentration camps so they had to hide. Their dad went to a friends hiding place because they only had space for one. Rachael, Sini and Annie were supposed to go to the Hanninks. Rachael did not want to go. Sini had to die her hair to go so they wouldn’t know she was a Jewish. Annie had to cut her hair and dress like a boy to go. When they got to Usselo she met Dini Hannink, they went to her house together. They stayed there for about to two weeks. Then they had to go to the Oostervelds. They were really nice people. Johan was a farmer, Dientje, and Opoe (Johan’s mother). They were supposed to stay there for at least a week because Mr. Hannink thought a German followed him. Annie’s legs were getting crooked and couldn’t walk that much so she had to exercise. She really hated to do that. After a year and a half they haven’t even seen how the house looked. And Sini really wanted a tan. So Johan let them go out. He was going to pick them up around dinner. But then Dientje’s sister came and they couldn’t get in. Annie got real sick that day. A nice doctor came and helped them. The Germans came to inspect their house but Johan made a hiding place in the closet. The Germans caught one of their friends. They knew who had told the Germans so they told Johan to kill him and he did. He went to hide for a while in somewhere else. Then one day Germans come and tell them they want to use their house for headquarters. They tried…
The Garage is a television programme following the staff of English Mobile Mechanics in Marbella, Spain. The programme follows the activities of the garage and initially it followed new staff hires as they adjusted to life in Spain whilst coping with their new jobs and their boss, Jock Campbell. As work in southern Spain depends on tourists or villa owners that winter elsewhere the Garage 's trade is highly seasonal. Four out of the five new recruits found themselves with insufficient paid work (no customer jobs to book time to) so eventually announced that they were leaving and vacated their positions.…
The kitchen is decorated with polished wooden cabinets and a squeaky clean stove that shows your reflection when staring down upon it. There is also a fridge in the back of the kitchen and the trash bin resides next to the fridge. Touring the rest of the apartment there is my bedroom, my sister’s room and the master bedroom. My room suits all my needs; whether it be sleeping, eating, studying, or relaxing. My getaway place is my room. There are two twin beds in my room, and a closet full of shoes and clothes. A 50 inch television sits on top of the only black sleek dresser in the room. My room is usually where I invite all my friends over and throw parties. In my sister’s room there is a formal setup, just a simple king sized bed and a beige headstand where she keeps her television. In the hallway there is a treadmill where users can burn off calories and improve cardio. There are two bathrooms in the apartment, inside them are white walls and brown tiles in the tub. Also a mirror is above the sink to make sure people arrange themselves properly before exiting. The master bedroom hosts a bathroom, closet, and a desktop on top of a glass computer…

Walking down the stairs, turning the corner, I enter my room. As I open the door, I immediately feel the soft carpet, I am enveloped in the familiar surroundings. The two colored walls, the shelves that hold my books and various trinkets, and my bed with its headboard holding an assortment of items. Sitting on the downy soft comforter, I smell a faint whiff of sweet pea that is constantly in the air. While I sit I listen to the quiet music that is always playing in the background. All the while thinking of contentment.…
The war on drugs whether wrong, right, or indifferent, has yielded a plethora of life changing outcomes for many United States citizens. Both the plaintiff and the defendant have their own side of the dispute, and yet somehow the plaintiff in the non-stop ‘cash grab’ that’s so conveniently nicknamed the “War on Drugs” gets the benefit of zero-tolerance, or minimum sentencing. In most cases the defendants simply are doomed from the beginning due to horrible living conditions and lack of jobs in the area. Coupled with police brutality and prejudice pointed toward the African-American community as a whole, it should come as no surprise that in 2011 there were more African-Americans in prison or “under the watch” of the justice system than were enslaved in the United States in 1850. This is not any more a war on drugs than the Iraqi Conflict was a war on the seizure of weapons of mass destruction.…
Savyon Liebrecht was a child of survivors from the Holocaust and like many other children who went through the same experience; she had to deal with the trauma of the past. This admired contemporary writer has grown up, and through her writings, it is evident that she is still trying to understand and live with the "silence" which her blood relations bestowed upon her. A Room on the Roof displays the innate tension when prejudice, misunderstanding and fear that arises when not knowing, and questioning what is known to ones self. It seems that individuals adopt thinking, values and beliefs of those around them, which is primarily learned from families. With this, our judgments are clouded by the values we were raised with and that in turn, affect our worldviews.…
After almost 18 years I have been sleeping in the same room with square shape, it is about 50m² in my grandmother’s house, but it is nit just mine because I share it with my older brothers, that is the reason why you can find a bunk in the right corner (behind the door) it is a little old, seen as it has been here for over 27 years, next to it, you can find a wooden log which belongs to one of my brothers and he uses it as a table where he puts his notebooks and that kind of stuff. At the left of the wooden log, you can find my bed and when I’m sleeping my feet is almost over the wodden log, I sleep with my mother, it used to be for my mother and dad and I used to sleep in a matress under their bed, but my father died and I took his place over the floor.…
In a time where the digital age has taken over our lives, our initial meeting represented a pure fashion of two individuals conducting their business as usual and destiny meeting its fate. With both of us working in the healthcare industry, Methodist Hospital was the scene that setup the perfect place for our lives to come together and eventually lead us to live happily ever after. Walking through the hospital one day, Lawson, as a vendor of the hospital and Shay, an employee of the hospital, sat at her desk not knowing that her natural beautiful looks would attract her soon to be husband. As a gentleman caller, Lawson approached Shay and introduced himself and proceeded to request a phone call from her by delivering his business card.…
In the short story “My Parent’s Bedroom” by Uwem Akpan, the country of Rwanda is having a civil war between the Hutus and Tutsis, the primary trying to eradicate the latter. The Hutus force Papa to kill Maman, which she convinces him that it was only solution. However, it wasn’t the best choice in his family’s situation. The Wizard and the Hutus arrive to ensure that Papa slays his Tutsi spouse, Maman. Papa murders her to please the crowd, “If you let any Tutsi live, you’re dead. And then they begin to leave, some patting him on the back,” (27). I find this to be the only major decision made in the story because it severs the whole family’s connection with one another, and especially leaves Monique traumatized. There were few consequences,…
In addition to it, on a table against a wall placed cupcakes and candies which make the ground floor smells warm and inviting and blessedly familiar. There is a pool table on one side of the lounge and a table tennis table on the other side beside couches. In the middle are three elevators and from across is a wall of mailboxes. It would take approximately a minute to get to the floor that I live in, the 20th floor. Step out of the elevator after the sound “ding”, the carpeted floor gives it a wonderfully homely character. My room is a double split room, it is allocated evenly on both sides and is furnitured with essentials such as closet, table and mattress on the base. As I jump on the bed, the bed-springs does not creak and the mattress is very soft to lay on. When open up the window, the sound of the city mixed with the sound of wind can be heard clearly along with the sunset and city view outside my window is quite a sight to behold. The throw pillow in bright global textiles and the traditional patterned bedding that I brought all the way from my own country, China, lightened this little room. All these small parts all take parts to build up a home feeling which is one of the main reasons why Lawrinson Hall is my favorite building on campus.…
My bedroom is a place where I can be comfortable and sit back to relax. When I am tired or not feeling my best. I just go to my room, shut the door, and lay down to relax. I may even turn on so music or read a book. My room is where I like to retreat so when I want to relax. The reason the room is so important to me is because it holds all of my personal belongings, which are very important to me. I also have privacy whenever I want it by resorting…
I am currently sitting in my bedroom, on a cold winter day. My feet touching the rough surface of my ancient Persian carpet, walls of orangey orange stare at me through the pictures on them, and the mountains of dirty clothes falling over me as if there was an avalanche going on. Today is not going well as I feel stressed from all the chores that I have, plus the cleaning of my over infected room. Even though every visitor that gets to see my room may suffer blindness from seeing the mess, I love this room because it has a certain warmth and glow that allows my mind to rest in peaceful bliss. Yes, maybe there is a smell of wet dog and there are pets that I never brought home crawling around every corner of this room but it is the place where I grew up and feel safe to be when I am down. There are so many great treasures hidden in this room that as soon as I clean, I feel water drops fall from my dark brown eyes and run across my cheeks until they fall from my chin and hit the floor. Out of a 24 hour day I may only take 7 hours to get this place spotless and be able to observe the wonders hidden inside of the black door that covers the entrance.…

The house where we live is made of mud and wattle. The whole structure is supported by the wooden pillars. There are a lot of rooms in my house. These are two sleeping-rooms, one store-room one study, one drawing-room and a kitchen. Outside the rooms there is a cow-shed and a shed for the thrashing horse. There is a very spacious courtyard in my house area.…
