I can barely recognize all these people everyone fuzzy from the tears forming in my eyes, trying to keep it together for their sakes. All I’ve heard since my arrival are the remorseful sorry from the people, them not realizing with every word I’m breaking. I gathered myself and sat down for the service praying for the moment it would be over. The…

I have read excerpts from two texts. An informational text titled ‘The Sea Around Us’ by Rachel Carson, and a literature text titled ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea’, by Jules Verne. In both excerpts there are many descriptions of the ocean. Many people debate whether details are described more vividly in informational text, or in literature. I feel the ocean was described more vividly in the excerpt from the literature text ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea’.…

About half the people I had started with were gone. But I, the weakest of all of them made it to the finish line. My wings were pinned on my uniform, and I was so happy I could have screamed. I knew then that there was truly nothing in the world I couldn't accomplish if I wanted it bad enough. For me, this experience really showed me who I was and what I was made of. Nobody thought I was going to complete basic training to begin with, much less go airborne. It was an experience I will never forget and I can proudly stand here today and say that I am an airborne…

I walked into the airport pushing only a pink stroller with a newborn baby girl and trying not to come in the way of rushing passengers. The ambience of the airport was very impressive. The lounge was brightly lit and tastefully decorated. Huge screens displaying the arrival and departure of flights greeted my daughter and me at different spots. It was a busy time of the day. There was a large number of people with baggage in tow, some standing in line before ticket counters and some proceeding towards different numbered gates. I was surrounded with madness. Everyone was in a hurry and had a place that they needed to be. I, on the other hand, was simply standing there, in front of the departing and arriving flights screen, waiting and watching patiently to see the flight number that my husband was to be arriving on. I was overwhelmed with so many different emotions. Excitement, happiness but most importantly nervousness took over my body. Which was odd because this wasn’t a new boyfriend, this was my husband. There wasn’t any reason I should be nervous, except for the fact that my husband was fixing to meet his precious newborn daughter for the first time.…

Viktor Frankl’s book, “Mans Search for Meaning,” has an abundance of despair, loss, and chances to become bitter, however, Frankl turns those potential feelings around and makes them into an experience, one he can learn from. It is similar to the saying “learn from your mistakes.” Frankl experiences the worst of the worst, and he learns something magnificent. This is not a story about the horrible things that happened to him in the Nazi camp, but one about his search for meaning.…

I texted Janae, and was in a state of complete and utter panic when I saw the gate I was told to go to completely empty, and it looked like a store that had closed up shop forever. I sat down at the strange gate anyway, due to the fact I could hardly stand because of exhaustion. Eventually, the gate opened back up, and our tour group got back together. I was so relieved, I slept the entire next flight. When we got to the final airport and I saw my parents, it felt like I had not seen them in years, due to how much I had learned.…

“Boo hoo!” My eyes were waterfalls. You could fill a bathtub with the amount of tears dripping from my face. It was the moment I had to say goodbye to my parents for 4 weeks until I saw them on visiting day. It felt like I was leaving them forever. We were standing outside of the gate before my sisters and I boarded the plane saying our last goodbyes. I didn’t want to leave my parents. All they kept telling me was “We’ll see you in July and we know you will have a great time. We will write letters everyday, we love you.” Saying goodbye isn’t as easy as I’d think it is. I gave my mom and dad one last big hug and kiss before I boarded the plane. As I walked onto the jet way holding my sisters hands hysterically crying, I turned around to wave one last time to my parents. I couldn’t believe I just left them for seven weeks. I cried myself to sleep on the plane to hopefully forget I left my parents and wake up excited to have a summer home. I sat anxiously on the plane waiting to land until I finally heard the announcement, “Flight…
