Staying in a small cabin-like hotel in the countryside, mountain biking, somewhat of a family tradition, was easily accessible. On the first day, we decided on a light ride, about 10 kilometers total, stopping for lunch in a nearby restaurant. For lunch, a czech specialty ‘svičkova’, which consists of a sirloin beef with a hearty gravy and dumplings. The second day our minds were set to go on a longer trip to the swamp that was about 10 kilometers away, so we had a big breakfast and departed on our adventure. The beginning of the journey was easy and relaxing as it was a large path and downhill, that is until we reached the river crossing and the incline began to rise. Fast forward about twenty minutes and we had gone from cruising in medium-high gear to struggling to push ourselves up in low-low gear. This continued for about 3 kilometers of steep uphill trek only interrupted by powerbar and water breaks. After finally reaching the large flat area where the swamp was located, we chained our bikes up to some nearby trees and continued on foot. The long path lined with wood planks(to keep us from sinking to a cartoon like demise), led to an observation deck and small river where we could relax and eat our sandwiches. Now came the exciting part. Speeding back down the hill, trying to hit a new highest speed, which was conveniently measured on a small meter attached to the bike. On the way down the dial began to climb as we reached the steepest points. My previous record was 46 km/h. This was gonna be difficult to beat, but I was determined. I pedaled as hard as I could, but was too busy looking in the path ahead to notice my speed, luckily though the meter saved personal bests, and at the bottom of the hill I checked in excitement. 53 km/h read the dial, I was proud and relieved
