The Most Unforgettable Incident

For approximately 15 years I have been lived in this hurdle-filled world, there is one incident that I can never forget, and that is the time when I fortuitously entered a ladies’ public toilet.

To instigate, I was watching Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 2 with my family at Alamanda, Putrajaya. My brother and I was very eager to watch the movie. Although at that time, my bladder is already at its peak, the excitement just overcame it.

We watched the movie together merrily. Harry Potter versus Lord Voldermolt ! It was really a worth-to-watch movie. After the movie ended, I felt like the nature is calling me! It’s not just a call, it’s a blasting megaphone call ! My brother too felt it. So we rushed to the toilet like Flash did in the movies. No one can stop me ! Literally, no one can stop me. Even my brother warned about me going to the wrong place.

Without looking at the symbol in front of the door, I sped off into one of the stalls. I saw no one in the toilet. No one. My ears couldn’t hear anything . My ears functioned only after I finished doing my business. As I was getting ready to get out of the stall, I hear smooth, soft voices. I thought, is that girls’ voices ?

I peeked from the bottom of the stall and saw high heels and ladies’ feet ! Oh no ! No ! No ! I entered the wrong toilet ! So, I swiftly opened the stall door and bail out of the toilet like a ninja. I heard girls’ screams ! I don’t care ! I just ran my heart out away from that dreaded place. I called my family to meet me at the car.

They laughed real hard as if I’m a clown. Such a meanie. I learnt my lesson. Do not be clumsy and hasty in doing things, especially important things. From that day on, I promised myself to never come to that place ever again.

The End.

I subjected myself to two trials of violating this norm. In both trials, I went into a busy public restroom on the Texas A&M University campus with about five stalls. I began by asking the question: “Hello, how is everybody’s day going?” In the first trial, no one responded. An eerie silence fell over the bathroom.…

    Sociology 101 Social Norms

Harry Patel 9/03/2008 Sociology 101, section 8 Social Norms: Conformity and Deviance One of the norms I broke was talking to someone in a public bathroom, while peeing. It was very ocward talking to the guy next to me. One of the reason I felt ocward talking to him was because, you are not suppose to talk to the guy next to you. While you are doing your business you look at the wall in front of you. When you are done you wash your hands, and leave. No one talks to anyone they don’t know, even if they do know the person next to them they won’t talk to them while they are peeing. No one was taught to do this, you learned by observing. But when the guy next to you starts talking you don’t know how to react. That’s how the guy next to me reacted. First of all this field stimulation took place in AMC Theater bathroom, right after the movie Eagle Eye finished. My prediction before starting the field stimulation was that no one will talk to me and pretend they didn’t hear me. When I enter the bathroom there were few people in the bathroom all the urinal were full because I had to do the field stimulation I waited for one of the urinals to open up. While I was waiting for the urinals to open up I didn’t want to do the field stimulation. The reason I didn’t want to do it was because there were lots of people in the bathroom, and I didn’t want anyone to get mad at me. One of the guy finished and stepped away from the urinal washed his hand and, like what you are suppose, to do he didn’t talk to anyone. I walked over to the open urinal and started doing my business. The guy next to me was done and walked away, right when I got there. This guy in his late 20’s started using the urinal next to me. I didn’t know what to say at first. I was thinking about just saying Hi. I couldn’t get myself to say it, but finally very scared and nervous I said hi. I don’t know if he heard me or not, but he didn’t say anything. So I got even more nervous. I said it even louder hi. He gave me a…

Open carry is an ongoing topic of dispute amongst the entire United States. Some states are lax with their gun laws while some are stricter. The controversy over gun control is all over the media, especially because of the ongoing occurrences of shootings. The behaviors of these individuals are not at all alike but they all are committing these heinous acts against innocent people, some even children. Each one seems to have a different agenda, such as terrorist acts, and others are just random people who decided to do something awful. The research that I have done using Sociology and Organizational Leadership has told me that if we understood these individuals who are carrying out these attacks against the general public, then maybe we could…

I went to the movie theater the other day. I saw Will Smith’s new movie, Concussion. I saw it at the AMC in Rosedale. I wasn’t even planning on seeing it because I had work but I was 3 hours late so I was like what’s the point. I went to the theater and had to decide what to watch. It was between Concussion and Star Wars for me. I chose Concussion because it was shorter and I’ve never seen Star Wars before so I wouldn’t understand what was going on. I proceeded with my ticket but my eyes caught the snack area. Soon enough I was about to spend four dollars on a small pack of Sour Patches. God didn’t want me to so I got it for free. (My card was declined!)…

Suddenly, the choir staff rounded us up and we headed to the airplane entrance. Once aboard we sat into comfy seats destined for the eight - hour flight to Frankfurt, in Germany. While on the airplane, we watched movies or talked to a friend to occupy ourselves during the long trip. Gradually nearing Germany, the choir staff suggested taking a nap for a little bit since the time zones had changed. Agreeing, I snuggled as best as I could next to the airplane window. Trust me, the window was not a good pillow and I couldn’t sleep a wink! On approaching the Frankfurt airport the plane had massive amounts of turbulence. So much, in fact, that one of the girls in my choir screamed! I was so embarrassed when people kept looking around to see who had done it. After a very fast and confusing transfer onto a different plane, we got seated again for our much…

Throughout life I have had many memorable experiences. The memorable events could be from the worst to the best that I couldn’t explain it myself. But, there was this one moment where I could not get it off my mind for the very moment. The best day of my life was definitely when Mum announced that we are going to South Korea for vacation. I could not believe my ears. Could it be an April Fool? It couldn’t be, it wasn’t even 1st of April. That day was one of the memorable because of the dream I’ve had since I was 11. Who knows that dream could actually come true?…

I quickly dashed to a nearby toilet and couldn’t care less which toilet it was.It did not matter anymore whether it was a boy’s or girl’s toilet.I remembered these urges started after I had two glasses of tea tarik at a mamak stall at the Gopeng t-junction on the way to this school. All those grunt and groan were expressed freely in that cubicle. It was total privacy until...I heard giggling outside.I wondered why the giggles were sounded so near. I came out from the cubicle half naked and discovered something very embarrasing. My god! to my horror, I had entered the girls’ toilet. To make matters worse, these few girls were the familiar faces I saw during the registration this morning. They were laughing at the top of their voices.I thought they would screamed but this was rather unusual. They stared at my bottom half and giggled at me.After a while only I knew they closed their eyes and turned away.Gosh!!horror of horrors, I had forgotten to zip up! No beetroot could have matched the…
