On Thursday, I visited the Holburne Museum, Bath's art museum. The museum had a great collection of art and small objects from the height of the Georgian period in Bath. The museum was also the starting point for the Lantern Procession, an annual event that kicks off the lighting of Christmas lights in Bath. I casually strolled through the city, passing by Buckingham Palace on my way to Trafalgar Square. While walking down The Mall, a procession of the Queen's Life Guard Mounted Calvary trotted past me. Naturally, I followed them. I was led to the Horse Gardens Parade where the changing of the guard was about to take place. I watched for a few minutes and then continued on my way. Other Grade 1 listed buildings in London include Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and the Palace of Westminster (Parliament). When renovations of the building began in the late 1990s, a decision was made to not include any furniture in the house because there were no accounts of what furniture existed in the house during Franklin's time. As a result, the museum decided to create a theatrical production that would bring the house to life. An actress, playing the boarding house's daughter, Polly Hewson, guides visitors through the house. A video is projected on a wall in each room and the actress interacts with the video. Each video helps give the visitors an understanding of what each room in the house was used for as well as a history of Franklin's time in England. I have never visited a museum that provides this type of experience to its visitors. It truly brought the house to life and I learned new things about Franklin. At the end of the tour, we had a chance to view a replica of a glass armonica, a musical instrument which Franklin invented during this time in England. I even had a chance to try to play it! Overall, I had a wonderful experience visiting the house and look forward to returning, possibly even as an intern one day (the chairman of the
