My Welcome
Welcome to the WRSX Group From: Juliette Waldron, Executive Chair, WRSX Group
Firstly, I would like to congratulate you on your appointment to the WRSX Board. As you know, I was on the interview panel that selected you and I have no doubt in my mind that you have much to contribute to the company. I was always in favour of bringing in someone from outside the industry and I am sure that your experience and your ability to see the big strategic picture and your fresh thinking will be of great benefit to those of us who have spent our lives in the industry. However, you should never forget what our business is all about – our job is to help our clients establish their brands through the range of services we offer – and sell more of their products or services to consumers or business customers – where required on a global basis. As an incoming director you will want to know the state of the industry – and specifically the state of WRSX Group as you join the Board. Well, the industry is going through a period of great change. We are witnessing an unprecedented proliferation in media options and dramatic growth in the time that people spend viewing digital channels. These provide us and our clients with a complex range of tools for getting product and brand information to individuals at precisely the right time in the consideration and purchase cycle. This provides both an opportunity and a challenge to the industry. You can learn more about this by listening to the report by one of our Business Analysts. Last year’s results for the WRSX Group can probably best be described as adequate. Not setting the world on fire but not awful either. We have not made as much progress as I would have hoped in bringing our costs under control. We have also lost some talented people from the Group in the last year – particularly in the US - and they have taken some major clients with them. We have also lost clients as a result of the corruption scandal that rocked the company last

At the time the Articles of Confederation were written in 1777, the United States was a new nation fresh from a war for their independence. In it, she made it clear what type of behavior and attitude would be required from her people. Vienna developed a vision for the company, while Chewton-Glen created a mechanism for the implementation of that vision. This meeting showcased the second element of instrumental leadership: the creation of systems and processes for measuring, monitoring and assessing results. Chewton Glen yielded a long “to-do” list of priorities. Charlotte Beers coalesced these ideas from the newly-energized leadership into a condensed and implementable plan focusing on “Client Security”, “Better Work, More Often” and “Financial Discipline”. From these three main concepts came major structural changes, such as the creation of the WCS and the introduction of the Brand Audit as a vital tool in the integration of the Brand Stewardship concept. Through continuous focus and inter-level communication, Beers and her team were able to begin the integration of the new vision into the existing O&M…
