My Writing Experience
Writing has not always been a strong suit of mine. Even in the present moment I sometimes struggle with writing. I have done numerous papers, ranging from daily journals to argumentative essays. I will admit that the older I grew I realized that writing helps in many ways. It can be a form of stress relieving, which I sometimes take into consideration when I have sort of a lot going on mentally. Many writing assignments were about what I liked to do hobby-wise, what my plans were for the future career/ school-wise, how I felt about certain discussed subjects nationwide such as the election of a black president, the rights for gay marriage, as well as oversea discussions, like the human trafficking in Thailand. My attitude towards writing varies on the topic of conversation. If it catches my attention I am 10x likely to deeply dive into it and manage a good report out of it. If it does not grasp me, then I still try to give it my full attention and do the best I can. Multiple assignments have geared me in the direction that I can write a good paper, and I should give writing more thought. Majority of the papers I have written, I would acknowledge them as valuable and profitable, because I know I can turn back to them and read what I wrote, to give me the encouragement to further myself. There are a few papers written that I thought were a complete waste and drain of my time, but looking back I see that they were put in place to challenge and help me for the good, rather than just writing to receive a grade. When it comes to writing I would like to point out my, what I consider to be my biggest flaw, I HATE SITTING FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME STARRING AT A COMPUTER, OR PAPER. I am an individual that has a high metabolism that likes to be in motion. I used to tell my friends that I would go to sleep just to wake back up and find something to get into. Another flaw in writing I have is the ability to find focus, my mind is one that will wonder off into space, or think about something that has absolutely nothing to do with the assignment. Adding to the flaw list I sometimes have trouble finding resources, and information to put into my works. Many a times I will find the same information, either worded differently, or summarized. As writing assignments occur I find myself overcoming the hurdle of not being focused, in English Comp 2 I plan to do just that, so that future writing courses will be a smooth sail. My strength in writing is just that, writing. Once I have started a paper, and if it happens to be one that I am fully engaged in I can sit, write, research, and proofread it. I can intake constructive criticism, when it comes from the right person. The fact that writing is a gateway for expressing my own beliefs, and thoughts, gives me the drive to want to write, being that I do not always have to rely on the next person’s opinion. A well attribute of mine is finding what to write about. When it comes to choosing a topic I can just about breeze my way through and select an idea that interest me. Another area that I am pretty confident in is the outlining, putting together an outline really helps me stay on track and keeps me from repeating prior statements, and thoughts. By the end of this semester, I plan to be able to confidently write an essay, without having too many errors, nor having to worry about missing critical information. My goal is to understand the writing process and deliver a well written paper.

Personally, I’ve always felt I was a decent writer in all aspects regarding research and personal narratives. Considering those are subjects that interest me and that I love to read about. I struggle the most when it comes to making my writing hold a deeper or hidden message when the topics I am told to write about don’t interest me. Having to do rhetorical analysis with old literature and having to explain the main idea was my number one struggle in AP language and composition senior year. But other than that I felt, throughout high school, I enjoyed writing and taking a majority of the writing classes my school had to offer, not only because it was required but because it was something that teachers and myself felt I did acceptable work.…

Writing class in my life has always been centered on analyzing mediums such as books, articles, movies, poems, and other things of that nature. The analysis would always consist of considering both viewpoints of an argument: what the author is saying and what the author is contrasting his or her viewpoints with. In addition to this, I have always been expected to incorporate my own thoughts on the subject of analysis. I feel as if I am a very good formal writer on serious subjects, and a not-so-great writer when it comes to talking about my own opinions and thoughts on an open topic. The best writing that I have ever done and was very proud of was the final paper for my Music Education philosophy course last semester. For this assignment we were expected to research a certain pedagogy, write about it, and synthesize our own pedagogy from what we had learned about that semester about all of the different pedagogies. Over the years from my first actual writing course in 9th grade, writing to me has developed from something I did to please the teacher into…

My writing process all depends on what I am writing. Some writings I can sit down and write the whole things and be done with it, while others can take me multiple days or even weeks. I normally sit down and work on it until I finish, get tired of it, or a hit a roadblock. I try to stop when I feel like I am writing the same thing over and over or if I feel like I just need a break. Most of the time, if I feel like I am writing and it is really bad, it is because it is and I need to take a break and come back to it later. Working on it in pieces normally works well for me, to break it up and take it a little bit at a time. I normally struggle when I do not like what I am writing about or when I run out of information to put in my writing. I…

The key topic I have learned that plays a huge role in the writing process is confidence. When writers are confident about their piece and they really love the way it has turned out, then it shows through the entire paper. I always tell my dance students that if they show the audience how much they love dancing, then more people will want to watch them. And I think the same goes for…

A lack of patience is the main reason I have trouble with writing. Before college, I was unwilling to put a significant amount of time into truly understanding a topic, forming a credible standpoint, and editing the paper. Nonetheless, it was important for me to complete the writing assignments to have a grasp of writing skills. Although writing has played a significant role in my education up to this point, it will not necessarily be an important part in my career choice of nursing.…

Our education system is designed in such way that student needs to write papers on almost any subject. Research papers, lab reports, essays, book reviews, thesis papers and much more need to be written to get a profession and the future. The main con of such a huge volume of writing tasks is that only in rare cases professors and teachers share clear instructions how to write. In other words, without giving much information, they develop hate to writing among students. Many students prefer to order their papers from professional paper writers online without mastering their own writing skills. Of course, it is great to get your paper written, but writing skills are needed if you would like…

Currently, I use writing in my career for reports, email responses, and monthly summary reports that I'm required to do and send to my superiors. My reports are for arrest, stats, current personnel assignments, and manpower hours. I have to send business type emails to my superiors several times a week with information they have to report to the Sheriff. Several of these documents are used for legal proceedings and must be error free. Writing in my career has increased. It seems there is a new form or added information that needs to be included with my reports, which requires more writing very month or so.…

Like most people, writing has made an impact on my life. I didn’t notice it right away, but once I did it changed my life forever. When one is asked to describe himself or herself as a writer, they frequently use adjectives such as “good” or “bad” to classify their writing skill; when asked if they find pleasure in writing, again bland phrases such as “not really” or “I do not mind it” leak from their mouth. The gray areas are often disregarded; I state this because personally, I fall into that hardly spoken of “gray area”. My past with writing has left me in a state in which I have the skill, vocabulary, and background to be an excellent writer, but writing is not necessarily what I would classify as a good time. Ensuing my transition into high school, I was given a plethora papers to write, all with different subject matter and all different forms of essays. From…

The number one reason I like to write is because it can be very challenging. There is the challenge of finding the right topic to write about. There is the challenge of finding all of the information you may need to support your topic; which could take hours and sometimes even days of your time. Once you have all the information you may need comes the biggest challenge; the challenge of organizing the paper. I enjoy a good challenge though. I…
