A Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) experiment was conducted on 14 upper limb amputees who were being compared and assessed with seven fully competent participants. This experiment involved examining the execution of hand and lip movements and imagined movements of the phantom limb or left hand. Fourteen of the participants had part of their upper limb amputated, nine of which had lost their right hand.…
In sports, the pain usually occurs in the initial stages of heating and then disappears As training continues. In sports are particularly at risk the distance runners, jumpers and football players.…
* How to test: start with gentle stretching (stretch out arm put wrist down, pull on wrist) put thumb on extensor tendons (just distal to the lateral epicondyle, put your other hand around wrist and have the patient extend the wrist and you resist the movement while pressing in with your thumb directly on the extensor tendons and see if it causes pain…
The most common symptom of this problem is local pain. In addition, tenderness, and firmness of the affected muscles is another prime symptom of this problematic situation in which home remedies for muscle cramps are proved to be helpful in many cases. Moreover, this painful problem is likely to disturb the function of the affected areas. For example, the tendency of writing or grasping may reduce when muscles of hand gets cramped. Indeed there are many home remedies for muscle cramps but, only few very effective remedies are mentioned ahead.…
Phantom limb pain is a common symptom experienced by over 90% of amputees. It’s defined as a painful sensation from a part of the body that no longer exists. There are a variety of methods for treating this neuropathic pain, but at the moment there is no specific treatment to tackle the pain completely. A mixture of medications and therapies has been proposed and trialed including drugs, surgical treatment and neuromodulation. Nonetheless, it is essential that a specific mechanism is targeted to in order to achieve the best therapeutic method.…
Through this experiment, muscle tension was measured by analyzing the electrical activity in both the dominant and non-dominant forearm muscle, the flexor digitorum superficialis, during an…
As the scope of care and responsibilities of Physician Assistants’ expands, so does the range of medical conditions to diagnose and treat grow. One medical condition that has become more prevalent in the past decade due to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq is Phantom Limb Pain (PLP). With reported rates of PLP in 50% to 85% of amputees (Weeks, Anderson-Barnes, & Tsao, 2010, p. 278) and over 900 amputees as a result alone from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan (Weeks et al., 2010, p. 284), the need for understanding and evaluating the best treatment options in managing PLP in patients has increased. This paper will explain what PLP is, establish the most common treatments for managing and reducing PLP by comparing and contrasting recent studies…
Mr. JK denies problem; “I don’t exercise enough”. The contour of the joints is symmetric. ROM was performing on shoulder, neck, wrist, elbow, hip, and knee. The result how that muscle strength is equal bilaterally and movements against resistance are smooth.…

Lateral epicondylitis, also known as “tennis elbow,” is a degenerative condition involving injury to the extensor carpi radialis brevis (ECRB) and occasionally, the extensor digitorum communis muscle (EDC). “Many etiologies have been proposed, including overexertion or sudden forceful extension. Ultimately, it is the accumulation of micro tears between the tendon origin of ECRB and the periosteum of the lateral epicondyle that leads to the clinical signs and symptoms (Ford, Schmitt, Lineberry, & Luce, 2015, p.285-286).”…
Trigger finger, also known as stenosing tenosynovitis, This is due to scarring or inflammation of the tendon sheath around the flexor tendons. This causes the finger to bend as though the finger is pulling a trigger. This may be a symptoms of a serious medical concern, repetitive stress or trauma. This may cause incredibly painful or unpleasant sensations in the fingers and hand. For people with arthritis and similar conditions, the chances of experiencing trigger finger are increased. Trigger finger and the associated sensations may be reduced or even reversed by using the best trigger finger exercises for relief.…
Very few studies are available for the myofascial release technique and no studies are available for the combined treatment of Mulligan’s mobilization with movement and myofascial release technique in recurrent chronic lateral epiondylalgia. Hence, a need arises to rule out the usefulness of, the addition of myofascial release technique with Mulligan’s MWM and conventional treatment for patients with recurrent chronic lateral epicondylalgia. This study investigates the effectiveness of MWM and myofascial release technique on pain, grip strength and functional disability in recurrent chronic lateral epicondylalgia…
Respect, especially in the Army is a very important value to live by. It is much more than just talking kindly and listening to someone. It is the process of taking into consideration someone’s emotions, feelings and needs. You must also focus on their ideas, thoughts, and preferences. It is showing someone that you value their time; that you care what they have to say. Showing someone respect allows that person to know and acknowledge that you are tracking them and that you comprehend and believe in what they are saying, It is important to allow someone to feel your respect for them. It will ease the conversation and create trust. Behavior and attitude will allow the person demanding respect to feel that respect. When we respect each other, there are fewer conflicts. People get along easier and avoid the un-necessary drama associated with a lack of respect. For those of us in the military, this is very important.…
