There are lists of infamous myths surrounding the topic of abortion, claiming numerous health hazards, however it is crucial to recognize that it is merely a myth as there are health benefits to abortion and disadvantages of one’s well being after giving birth. With the option of having an abortion as a choice, it has been revealed that “Most (95%) women who had obtained the abortion felt it was the right decision, as did 89% of those who expressed regret” (UCSF). Women are able to feel a new sensation of comfort post-abortion, considering that it was most likely a result of an unintended pregnancy or other personal issues. A very complex and ongoing study has found no correlation between having symptoms of anxiety and depression, and with having an abortion, but those who did not get abortions did show more signs of anxiety over the next few months after being turned away by abortion centers. The children born from unwanted pregnancies had definite disadvantages.
