Working with HCPT, I was involved in the successful pilgrimage of children with both mental and physical disabilities to Lourdes. It was crucial to adapt to each individual child to meet their complex needs for varying abilities. I found it challenging looking after a non-verbal boy with Global Developmental Delay who refused to leave his bed due to an illness. However, with persistence I was able get his attention with toys and, with the help of my team, get him to take his medication. Reading this case report built on my experiences at HRCH where I observed safeguarding meetings involving multiple agencies and professionals all working together for the best interests of the child.
