‘Geopolitik Pakistan’ By ‘Brigadier Nadir Mir’
Brigadier Nadir Mir, an ex-army officer and an emerging writer on the geopolitics in Pakistan, delivered an informative lecture at Bahria University Islamabad on 10th April, 2014 with reference to his recently published book ‘Geopolitik Pakistan’.
The lecture was part of a special series organized by the Bahria Media Society and was attended by the honourable rector, Vice Admiral Shahid Iqbal, faculty members and a large number of students.
Brigadier Nadir Mir is an author of two books (‘Gwader on the Global Chessboard’ and ‘Geopolitik Pakistan’) and it was for his second publication that the crowd had gathered in the lecture theatre to hear him talk. Mir, in his lecture, highlighted the importance of geopolitics as a subject and stressed the need for it to be taught in educational institutions. Mir has succeeded in his endeavours so far and the book has been well received.

He defined geopolitics for the audience as “a comprehensive view of the world” and underlined that it was this world view which caused nations to rise and fall. Mir believes that if Pakistan promotes a world view of equality and freedom, there can be nothing stopping it from achieving its bigger national goals. He emphasized that Pakistan already had three major assets – namely, its geographical location, demographics and nuclear deterrence – which if used wisely can lead to more fruitful global politics.
Mir took the opportunity to highlight Pakistan’s relations with its neighbouring countries. He identified how Pakistan received half the size of state it
