Nail Polish Research Paper
Many girls all over the world wear nail polishes to make their nails look pretty and shiny. Nail art is a lot of time consuming activity because it is hard for the polish to be applied on the nail evenly, also it takes a lot of time to dry. While the nail polish is drying, girls cannot do anything but just wait or do something and get their nails ruined. It is also extremely hard to keep them in perfect condition. After two to three days from applying, the polish starts to get chipped. However, after the invention of Gel nail polishes, girls do not have to worry any of these problems anymore. Gel nail polish brought revolutionary change to girls lives. Gel nail polish is a type of nail polish that requires a glowing blue light, a UV light, to dry. When the wet nails with gel nail polish go into a UV light lamp, the nails get perfectly dry and hardened in less than 30 seconds to maximum 2 minutes. Because of the perfectly hardened nail, they do not have to worry about their nails getting chipped or getting bumps on one of the fingers by grabbing something or fiddling with the …show more content…
Oligomers create the structure and the backbone of the gel system. The other main ingredient is photoinitiator. The photoinitiator jump starts the polymerization process and helps the gel adhere to the natural nail. In order to start the polymerization process, the Gel needs to be put under the UV light, and the process is called curing unless it will never dry. The UV light lands on the light spectrum at about 400 wavelengthand in between X-ray and infrared. The ultra violet light gives energy to the photoinitiator, which is sensitive to light, and it starts to decompose into free radicals.
