Naphrology: I Want To Be A Good Internist
I like nephrology because I get to feel the excitement of treating acute disorders ranging from hyperkalemia and acute acid base disorders with the way how rapidly this field is growing to be able to help more people in the community in addition to the variety of the diagnoses and the ability to help other specialists especially intensivists in ICU and cardiologist to guide them through and that I love how nephrology cases makes me think and how that I need to be a good internist in the first place to be able to help others especially with the involvement of several different specialties with nephrology that requires a deep understanding of general medicine, making the nephrologist truly a complete physician.

I chose nursing as my profession because of my mother and other factors. My mother was an influence because early this year she was in the hospital for two weeks and during that period I only saw the doctor thrice. The nurses where the ones doing everything, so I felt they were the ones who nursed her back to health. The other deciding factors were: variety of places for jobs whether in the public, private, or community setting; the opportunity to learn new things since no day is ever the same; the opportunity to work with other health professionals; nurses will always be needed; nursing offers specialty areas, and the opportunity to be a traveling nursing.…

There are many aspects of health care that intrigue me. I’ve always wanted to be a nurse; unfortunately it is very difficult to get into the program. However, if I ever go back to do that, I would want to either do labor and delivery or pediatrics. I have had the privilege of witnessing the birth of one of my nieces and it was the most amazing experience. To be a nurse and being a part of that on a daily basis would be awesome. I also have an extra soft spot for children, which is why pediatrics would also be of interest to me. Life threatening diseases do not only affect adults. I feel that being able to help children would only be helping our future.…

“The Centers for Disease Control estimated that 732,000 American children were saved from death and 322 million cases of childhood illnesses were prevented between 1994 and 2014 due to vaccinations” (“Should Any Vaccines”). Although a number of vaccinations are required for children entering the public school system, no federal law exists for students entering school; instead, it is the individual state’s decision to require vaccines (“Should Any Vaccines”). The idea of mandatory vaccinations infuriates some people because they feel vaccines should be a personal choice, however, government involvement in the public’s health serves as a preventative for children and everyone around them. Even though risks may exist, vaccinations allow for safety to prevail in society. For the small percentage of people who can not be vaccinated due to an existing disease or an allergy to the ingredients, the vaccination of those who are able is a safe and cheap way to keep the minority healthy without causing many adverse reactions.…
