Before Napoleon took charge of France, King Louis XVI was ruling. Education was for only the privileged. For those whom didn’t receive education, were taught about religion, manners and behaviours towards their elders. Louis XVI’s main goal in the department of education was not to teach these kids for the greater good, but to investigate the minds of young learners. Napoleon changed this, in regards to the ‘four levels of education’. These being; primary, secondary, lycees and also technical schooling. Because of this new system, the percentage of students attending school increased dramatically.
In the governing aspect, a lot of changes were made for the good. Previously, King Louis held the absolute power of everything; he made all the decisions for France. When the Revolution occurred, an assembly was held, in which all males had the opportunity to rule France. There was no single leader, and a lot of laws were ratified and created. When Napoleon crowned himself Emperor, he made France an Empire. The people of France were allowed to choose members they liked, to help Napoleon finalise the laws
Rights and freedom rules were changed as King Louis had only given them to the upper class. Napoleon gave them to the majority of people, so everyone had the right to speak their minds.
During the Monarchy, people were separated into three classes (nobles, clergy, and peasants) Nobles got special priledges and were the wealthy ones. Clergy people benefited from the poor. Peasants (95% population) constantly had to pay taxes and donate money to the church. They were so poor that they were unable to feed themselves and their families. Immediately after Napoleon crowned himself Emperor, he merged all classes to together made all people equal;, this made everyone happy.
Overall, Napoleon Bonaparte turned France into a better and civilised place. His decisions, benefited the people not only himself, he made education equal, gave the church less power, gave fairly equal rights and freedom, stabilized the classes, and most of all made the people of france, happier, peaceful and made them one.
