St. Augustine for Christmas Every year, around Christmastime, when the air is crisp and cold, I make a trip to St. Augustine, Florida. Last year’s trip was one of the most memorable; not only did I spend it with my favorite person, but all of downtown St. Augustine was decorated with beautiful white lights and the center of town dawned an extravagant Christmas tree to emphasize the spirit of Christmas. As soon as we arrived in St. Augustine, my boyfriend and I followed our noses to Cruisers Grill. Our stomachs grumbled as we ordered our food. Then, we caught ourselves losing focus of how hungry we were; taking in all of the wonders around us as we sat on the patio. There were birds chirping, children and adults laughing all around us, and hooves clicking on the pavement from the nearby carriage tours. Around this time of year, people seem happier and more at peace; that is how I felt as I sat there quietly waiting for my meal. Finally, our food came. My boyfriend ordered his usual burger and fries and I ordered a tuna wrap. As scrumptious as it sounds, the tuna wrap tasted like something out of a dumpster. The waiter saw my face of disgust as I bit into the wrap and rushed over to our table to offer something else from the menu. We decided at this point, it was only necessary to explore as much of downtown St. Augustine as we could. Our first stop was a walk by the Matanzas River.
