Everybody loves to party. A meaningful party has a dramatic impact on people’s lives. It was the second day of my university life. I was invited to a new student welcome party. At the beginning of the party, I felt really embarrassed. I knew none of those people in the party. I did not know what to do. For another thing, I have trouble on communicating with other foreigner, especially native English speaker. However, my mind changed quite a bit during middle of the party, and I was glad that I made some new friends. Moreover, I felt this welcome party completely accepted me. This welcome party is going to be a turning point of my student life in Victoria.…
This this personal introduction. The most important thing in life is a course to know yourself. After entering university, entered into a new environment -- totally different from my hometown of an environment. Attending the Pride friday at IUPUC before the beginning of school has been one of the most helpful events. By going to this I met some friends and learned more about the school itself. Although I have made the choice not to stay at IUPUC all four years of my college career, being here my first semester has started me off great. During this event they spoke of how we start and end our four years in the same way. I am just glad I have been able to enjoy my first semester by making some new friends, learning new strategies to working and figuring my life out.…
One would think that purchasing your first home would be a very fascinating experience; after all it is one of the most major purchases of your entire life. In America, home ownership ties in with the American Dream and the spirit of working hard to one day earn through hard work a home with a white picket fence. My husband and I felt that it was time for us to reward ourselves for all the hard work we have been putting in over the years by purchasing our first home, which was well overdue. I quickly learned the process of purchasing your first home can be very frustrating and stressful. However, if you survive the home buying process the reward is priceless once you move into your “American Dream.”…

I left my beloved family members and the village to study in the key middle school in the city for 6 years. In the middle school I continued to learn Chinese and started to learn English, which is my third language and favourite subject. I also learned history, maths, physics and other subjects. Six years’ hard work paid off when I received an acceptance letter from the famous West China University of Medical Sciences in August 1987.…
The first challenge that the majority of students have to undertake when becoming an undergraduate is long term. Homesickness is evident in many students. Not necessarily missing family but friends as well. In addition to this, one has had to leave behind a familiar place. A place that many people may have lived for all of their lives, therefore, the change in surroundings could possibly be overwhelming, making it difficult to adjust to student life. Furthermore, when leaving behind a place for some students they may be leaving behind a partner. Long-term relationships are then a factor when moving away and also the idea that you or your partner will meet someone else. This is another factor, which is extremely important when becoming a student. In a new place you therefore meet new people. New friendships must be formed and trust placed in these. Students react differently to being put in accommodation with between two and over ten more people. Some will relish the idea and begin making friendships as soon as they arrive. However, for others this may be found hard, especially for typically quiet, shy and reserved people. These…

My TOK moment was tonight 02/02/12 when the year one students had a batch meeting at the mosque having some games to create a stronger bond between us. As usual this kind of thing made my instinct to escape getting bigger and stronger. So, I decide to sneak out from the program pretending that I had to make some important call. So I ask the permission of our class rep to go out for a while with my best friend.…
It was August 9th 2008 when I first came to the United States of America leaving all my family and friends behind. I was a stranger over here as I knew nothing what next I was going to face in my future life. As I went to my new home I had already started to miss my old home since the whole place seemed totally new and strange to me. The weather was hot like hell; I was not used to this type of weather at all but had to change my behaviors. The apartment looked deluxe but I still missed the room back in my home which I had organized by my style with the woofers on all the corners of the room and off course my precious little guitar which I used to play whenever I got bored and lonely as now. Whereas in my new room I had a little study table where I have those thick books that I studied every night to gain a good GPA and those comfortable queen sized bed where relieved all my stress sleeping tight. The room had a door to the patio from where I could see the big tennis court where the children used to play other games like basketball and cricket rather than tennis. I found it hard to build friendship with my neighbors as I never saw them since they were too busy.…

Most people’s first day at college is the most stressful day of their lives because they don’t know what to expect or they just don’t want to go through an embarrassing situation, but for me it was the most exciting day of my life. First, I met new people who shared my interests, second it was a whole new experience for me in which success depended on me, and third it was the first day that I started studying something that I really liked. Finally I won’t forget it very easily because lots of things were accomplished in my first day at AIR UNIVERSITY…
