Throughout the years, my mom had been placed in the hospital numerous times from her failing body. Due to this, I was able to get a sense of the environment. Whether it was an infection in her gallbladder or a tear in her stomach, the main caretakers were the nurses, who always made sure she was alright. Their care of patients inspired me; they were not just doing the job to receive money, but they were caring for strangers as if they were actual family members.
As I watched my sick mother battle her health condition, her persistence in getting better had transformed me into an optimistic person- always finding the good in every bad situation. This included stripping down rooms, helping patients shower, administering their medication, and lending an ear. They even told me of the path that I could take to become a nurse and the possible hazards that comes with the job. Nurses had precautioned me that some patients would be very aggressive and confused at their stay at the hospital. Also, working there could expose me to very deadly pathogens, but my immune system would be strong due to the various exposures to microbes. Telling me this should have scared me a little, but all careers are dangerous in some ways. I heeded their warnings, but I never deterred.
