action when it happened. ButHowever, from someone who actually was there and seen it happen is a wholecompletely different thing. We take all of the little opportunities we have for granted. Little things like going outside on a sunny day, because when my grandfather was growing up the 1950s, he wasn'twas not allowed to go outside much in the summer time because of one reason only, polio. Polio was a disease that later got eradicated from the United States in the late 50s an mid 60s when a scientist named Jonas Saulk created an anecdote of some sort which became the first known polio vaccination. The disease was considered especially dangerous for pregnant women because it could cause birth defects. It never actually harmed adults physically, but mentally it took a tole toll on them & and their kids as well. It caused some people to lose limbs or use of certain body parts. If it wasn’twas not for people like Saulk trying to make advances in our country we would all probably have some type of deficiency just because of how hard it was to keep the control of the polio vaccine. ButHowever, a few years went past and then we became a nation at war . Some babies were even left at hospitals just because of the simple part of their parents couldn'tcould not accept that their baby had polio. It just almost struck fear in families when they heard about polio in that time periodtime. The summer timesummertime as we know it is just a blessing considering almost 70 years ago when the heat came, diseases came. I don'tdo not think anybody would want to have suffered from any form of paralysis. Not even for a little amount of time, because in my own opinion, if I were walking the day before, I would love to walk the day after. You put yourself in this scenario, scenario; you woke up every single day of your life with the knowledge of knowing you cantcannot do everyday stuff like just holding a cup because you can'tcannot use your hands and fingers correctly because polio caused you to lose control of them. I know you'reyou are probably thinking now in your mind that it would most likely suck to be that person. ButHowever, the messed up part has yet to come, men were took away from their families for 20 years to fight in a war that didn'tdid not even need them. Millions of lives were lost with nothing left to replace them but heartache. Another thing that caught my ear when he was speaking was when he told me that he grew up in the time periodperiod of the Vietnam War. In the midst of it all, it was a 20 year war, which when he was old enough to register for the selective service, the war was just about to end. Which to me that is a sign of relief just because from the history and teachings of that war. It'sIt is believed to be one of the most bloodiestbloodiest wars ever besides the World Wars. The release of the soldiers began the "Baby Boomer" era, which is what caused a large population increase in a short time period. Meaning that the soldiers were in a great period of just pure lust when they got home. My grandfather said that he remembers his uncles having about 16 kids a piece after the war. Then I thought to myself that if he said after the war, they probably had 2 two or 3 three before. ButNevertheless, I also think that the era took place of the lives lost in the Vietnam warWar. At the release of the soldiers, baby booming occurred when all of the soldiers were in a bit of a fertile mood. Which launched an increase in the population. "That's why a lot of my generation's families have multiple kids. There were families I grew up with and it was literally about fifteen too about twenty kids in the household. It was just natural back then. If you were an only child you were considered spoiled when I was coming up because it was just uncommon." ,”, said my grandfather. "I grew up in a time period were hard work was needed for survival. It was almost inadequate to not worknot to work back then. Whether it was on a farm with your family, or if it was bagging groceries at the local grocery store, every dollar was needed to help take care of home. I remember when you could buy a loaf of bread, a stick of bologna and some cheese for just a solid dollar. Movie tickets used to be a quarter", said my grandfather. That basicallyThat summed up the fifties until the mid sixtiesmid-sixties. From the late sixties until the seventies, there was an uproar in society. Music began to cast a major role in everyday life, mood, and way of living. There is also a lot ofmany African American pioneers that had their breakout year during this time periodtime, even though JFK wasn't black, he still had his break out year in the presidential election. He changed the political culture, but like everything else, people get tired of the same old things, partying was wearing off, people began to use drugs and violence whichviolence, which brought out the new generation. My grandfather stated, "I remember when the N word was automatically a fighting word, but now everyone and their mother are saying it with no consequence." Along came the eighties. The people from this time periodperiod are now mostly found hidden behind bars somewhere for the rest of their lives or either somewhere trying their best to keep a decent lifestyle. Only a minority have actually came out and overcame deficits in their lifetime. In one the rapper, Young Dolph's, song he stated, "Born in the eighties, crack babies." Which basicallyWhich states that drugs were a big part of their culture. It almost works against everything society was trying to avoid. I almost feel blessed to say I came from the millennial generation, but at the same timetime, my mom was born in the eighties. Crack cocaine wasn'twas not even the worse part about the eighties. The disease rate went up on alot of parts of the world. The AIDS epedimic took the cake though. It were famous people, crazy people, black people, white people, alland all kinds of people catching AIDS. But on the bright side, cell phones were created in the eighties. AlsoIn addition, the internet began to become more popular. The cell phone they had aren'tare not quite idealideal to what we consider a cell phone today. They were a big advancement to the world though, only few families were able to have one though. But nowNow almost everyone has a cellphone. The first phones were carried in like a sack like bookbag of some sort that held it inside. Our generation probably wouldn’twould not consider getting anything like that but then it was rare to even have a house phone, better yet a cellphone that was yours to use as you please. By the time the nineties came along, the country was starting to go more into the hi-tech stages.
The nineties brought out a lot ofmany changes to the world. Fast forward 10 years, in 2010, it was almost completely digital. Now itsit is 2017, everything possible can now be controlled by the touch of a button. 10 years from now the world may be completely different from what we know it to be. Let'sLet us just wait, ; change happens everyday. Eventually there will be a new civilization, new technology & ne things that will be considered historic, with my last words on this subject, make it your best, an make sure its a positive instead of a negative. Some people like to abuse their powers. Which is the reason WWll occurred. Adolf Hitler was the mastermind behind the communist like lifestyle of the Nazi party. Which was the group known for wearing swatzulas Swastikas in Germany trying to control everything. They almost had their dream of the Utopia they were trying to create. They were trying to eliminate the entire Jewish race. They made things like concentration camps and gas chambers or even just burned Jewish people alive to show their power over them. WWll basicallyWWll was sparked off ofoff this and Japan's surprise attack in Hawaii better known as Pearl
Harbor. In what is now believedbelieved, to be a better society we face threats every single day. Its just our choice on how we approach the people who choose to send them. We'reWe are in a situation right now with North Korea over nuclear weapons. We signed a paper whichpaper that had us rid of all of ours by 2018, every other country signed the treaty except them. They keep threatening a lot ofmany countries with the weapons, but it seems like the U.S. is their major hate center because almost every week they send a new threat on blowing some part of the U.S. up. We try our hardest to make everything perfect but too me it will never be anything perfect. Not even ourselves. We just can only wait and pray for our savior. Which is one of the things that my grandaddy's teachers almost lost their jobs for, praying. They almost lost their jobs because they lead a prayer in school which at that time was illegal which it still is but the rules were a little bit totoo harsh then. Not only did we get past the stereotypical society we were founded on, we started to make things our way. Some people have different opinions. SoTherefore, our government tried to make a way that everyone's complaints are heard and dealt with immediately. Just be sure to know your reasons. Be prepared to defend your ideas in court to if it ever gets down to that point. Do your very best at defending your goals. AndIn addition, try to stay out of the public so that the critics about everything don’tdo not find anything bad to say about you. Because you never want any bad publicity when you'reyou are trying to make change. Especially if you'reyou are trying to run for president or something. Which is how I'mI am wondering how our president now even got elected. He clearly done bad things throughout his whole time running for office. I personally think he's not a good fit for office but everyone's entitled to their own opinion. We almost are on the track for change in the world, world; let'slet us see what it'll be like in 10 years from now.
