It was at that moment I found my calling. Now, three years later, I have used each and every day as a stepping stone to obtain a degree in occupational therapy. I have accumulated over 350 volunteer hours, dedicated an entire summer to two young boys on the autism spectrum, and acquired a 400 hour occupational therapy internship for the upcoming spring semester in order to thoroughly prepare myself for my short-term goals; getting a masters degree and becoming an occupational therapist. If successful, I wish to work in geriatrics and perhaps one day become a hand-specialist to assist patients like Tim in retrieving their mobility. As an occupational therapist, I will hope for more than just physical results from my patients. My thirst to see my patients flourish will not be quenched by their vestibular-motor improvements or feeding independence. My passion is to become a therapist that will inspire patients to approach their rehabilitation with conviction. To galvanize a spirit of determination within them.
