Until recently, I considered soccer to be a social event. I didn’t really pay attention to the game or what was happening until it was passed to me or it hit me somewhere. Because of this, I had the habit of getting hit with soccer balls. I’ve not only gained a high pain tolerance, but I’ve learned to use it to my advantage. I’m pretty decent at blocking the ball with my body and preventing the other team from scoring on my goal. I remember there was this one tournament where I was playing midfield for the first time in a few years, and every time there was an airball towards me, I raised my hand, causing my team to get penalized multiple times for a handball. I don’t really know why I did this but it was terrible. It was like my reflexes were mixed up and instead of moving my head towards the ball, I moved my hand, making the game harder, and my teammates mad at me. …show more content…
Swimming is the other skill in which I’ve retained knowledge of.
I started swimming for a APSC in 2003. In the club, each level of lessons were a different sea animal, the first level was the tadpoles. When we learned everything there was to know in the level, we went to the next one. There were the otters, salmon, orcas, trout, and more that have slipped my mind. I stayed in the club until I was twelve, and the coach who taught me at salmon level, was teaching the pre-team group. She got mean and made us all get out of the pool every time someone was fooling around or messed up. I found it ridiculous so I
quit.
At this point in my life, I kind of regret quitting. If I had stayed in the pre-team class, I would’ve made it to the swim team and gotten able to compete in meets. I did get to anyway but not with other teams, just against my own. We didn’t even get real trophies, always ribbons. When I did swim, I was pretty decent at it. If I had stayed, I would probably be in better shape and would be able to do more with my life. In the near future, I plan to rejoin some kind of sport because I want to get back in shape and have fun doing it.
I have learned throughout the years, that trying different things is good. If you put yourself out there and learn what you like and don’t like, you will have a better time and find something that you enjoy more than the rest. My favorite thing is not a sport, it’s not a dance style, unfortunately it’s not a form of exercise. My favorite activity is to do math, especially statistics. I love the idea of statistics and I want to become an actuary. Giving me the opportunity to do statistics on almost everything and get paid for it.
